Hya peeps ive been playing gmod for a while but i didnt "realize" it was playing on -dxlevel 7 when i have dx 10! idk what to do, i tried the whole -dxlevel 100 thing and all, though i can change the dxlevel in game by entering "mat_dxlevel 90" into the console but after like 5 minutes it just crashed. Has anyone found a fix to this problem. Currently im running on -dxlevel 80, i really like all the reflective shaders and water on the full dxlevels, i would really like to have them for my self hehe
Note: The water in my game is basically a big piece of shader, no reflective properties and its murky as hell.
..What?
THE GAME NO PRETTY!!! there are no shaders no reflections no materialize effects from prop spawining! I have dx10 but it will only let me play on dx8-8.9

Edit! So basically i have dx10 cause i have vista... but i cant go past dx9 has there been a solutoin to this problem yet?
Source doesn't support DX10, only DX9. And it sounds like you're having trouble running DX8/9, meaning DX10 would just murder your computer. PC Specs please?
Okay see, the problem is that your graphics card sucks. A lot. You have an integrated Intel "graphics" chip. These are meant for exciting things like rendering spreadsheets or word documents and not 3d video games from the past 4 years, thus you cannot run DX9 properly, DX10 is out of the question, for two reasons, GMod doesn't support it and your PC couldn't handle it.
4xxx is supported, however this spoilt by orange box demands. Solution: new laptop.
water has always been murky, no matter what the cause but this water problem is not a problem. This is by source design.
You don't have directx 10, Windows supports it but your card doesn't. Continue running with directx 7 or buy a new card
Okay, book for you above, he's running a craptop. He can't upgrade it.
and the x series and the 9 series support dx10. So what are you on about.
