[release]Warning: Wall of text Hey Facepunch! I had an AMAZING idea last night, for some reason I have awesome ideas while I'm tired. Anyway! Here is my idea:[/release] ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Blitzkrieg Intro ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- [release]Blitzkrieg plays very similar to the game "The Godfather II" Watch these videos to better understand what I am talking about; [url]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9WljZhtWxaI[/url] [url]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ga0_TkSTbTM[/url] The gameplay is going to be very complex and simple at the same time.[/release] ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Blitzkrieg Gameplay ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- [release]Groups: There are three groups to Blitzkrieg; -The Seven Sins (Blue Gang) -The Rouges (Red Gang) -The Enforcers (Green Cops) Upon joining the server you pick a group. You cannot change groups unless you rejoin the server. [/release] [release]Level System: There is a leveling system that allows you to use certain classes and attain certain upgrades or cars. This level is saved but not shared with other groups. For example; if I like playing enforcers I have a lvl 20 in the enforcers group. But I want to start playing The Seven Sins, I start at level 1 for that group. Leveling up will unlock guns and upgrades. So as you progress though the game you unlock more health, more armor, and more weapons. Ways you can gain XP will be: -capturing a territory -killing enemy group members -arresting players as a cop -holding territories -using class abilites (ex: reviving friendly as medic, laying bombs as bomb expert.) -periodically (every 10m you get certain amount of XP) [/release] [release]Divisions: Inside your set group (Seven Sins, Enforcers or Rouges) you will be able to create a division. This division will cost money and a certain level to create. You can invite your friends to this division. This divison system makes everything more unified. I have figured out that teamwork is very hard with random people. But if you can just play with your friends while still being part of a larger group you feel more important. This does not mean your division cannot help another out, it is mainly to be with friends. Everyone in your divison is easily visible on your hud. [/release] [release]Money system: In the game I was thinking about a money system similar to DarkRP's. You spawn with a set amount of money, and you can earn money in almost the same ways you can earn XP. With this money you can buy guns, armor, cars, gun upgrades, armor upgrades, health upgrades, and so much more. Here's how you can earn money: -Every 90 seconds it checks how many territories your group has. Everyone in that group gets a certain amount of money times how many territories the group has (x)(100) -you can earn money by capturing a territory -you can earn money by killing enemy group members -Using class abilities (reviving a friendly as medic) [/release] [release]Territory System: Territories are the main point to this whole gamemode. Here is a picture to help you with what I am talking about. [img_thumb]http://wikicheats.gametrailers.com/images/0/0f/Godfather_II_Havana_Map_2.png[/img_thumb] Something similar to this menu will be usable using derma or something of that sort. The map will show the actual map we are playing on and will show the location of every ownable territory. It will also show who owns the territory. The map will also show the location of everyone in your divison. As you can see in the picture their are different types of territiories. If you control all of the territories of one type your group recieves a special upgrade, such as a health boost. But if you lose one territory in that group you no longer recieve the bonus, kind of like monopoly. I also know what you are asking now. "Aren't people just going to random kill!?" No. Everytime you capture a territory NPC's spawn around the area. These NPC's will help you fight off attackers. When one of your guards is killed your whole group is alerted that X place is being attacked, with a big arrow on your hud pointing to the area being attacked. Only when an area is being attacked can you kill another enemy player. So if I am the enforcers and I attack the Seven Sins territory then only the enforcers and Seven Sins members could shoot eachother. [/release] [release]Can you guys please reply on the idea? Is is a nice idea? Is it even possible to lua code!? Please respond with any feedback possible, I would really appreciate it! Thanks for reading![/release]
This sounds like a great gamemode/idea, many good concepts and ideas. Will the class abilities be unlocked as you gain levels? Also, How many classes are there?
[QUOTE=Divine Shadow;26343860]This sounds like a great gamemode/idea, many good concepts and ideas. Will the class abilities be unlocked as you gain levels? Also, How many classes are there?[/QUOTE] Some of the fine details have not been thought out fully yet, but I'm sure there will be atleast 15. And you unlock the classes as you level up. So in a sense, yes, you do obtain new abilities as you gain levels.
What if a group of max level people all go on one team, and conquer all territories, so if a player practicly spawns, he is probably going to get killed. Another thing: If making groups costs money, (within your team), what happens if you decide to change teams?
One point that you made I can counter on. If a player decides to leave a team but is leader of a division nothing will happen. He will still be on that division for that team but he will only start as a lvl 1, with no division on the other team. In a way, the game is three games. Each team is like a new character for you. But the other one I cannot respond to, it is a loophole as far as I know. Me and some friends have discussed that problem but have yet not come up with a solution. I could however throw out some ideas to get some discussion started. Different servers with a level limit could solve the problem, but would then break up your division. If you reach the level limit for one server and the rest of your division is still 4 levels below you... what do you do? Do they have to come up to a higher level group to keep playing together? These are problems we have run into. Another suggestion that also has a loophole. We could make it so only some territories can be conquered by certain levels. This does not fix the problem though. This would still keep max levels and lower levels mixed in with eachother.
Sounds pretty cool, add me on steam and so we can talk.
Added you. Anyone else have feedback for the game?
Are you yourself a scripter? Or is this a random idea?
Randome idea. This is why i need some help on the project. :D
Hmm... Well ideas like this usually die, and Alot of the ideas posted aren't exactly easy to make. I hope you get some scripters because this is a pretty good idea.
