• Server crashing in between 10th-20th join.

As the title says, I guess. My clan's server is crashing very often and I'd like to ask other server owners some causes of this crashy-ness when people join. It's very disruptive and without passwording it, the server could crash every hour or so, purely because of traffic. I am very happy to say our server has never crashed from massive lag experiences, pretty much only this problem, however I'm not at all happy to say our server can barely fill its 12-slot limit without crashing. The server is hosted by http://www.lowpings.net/ and from what I know, they are a pretty well known host. We have a 12 slot game server from them. I am not the server owner, but my clan's server owner is aware of the problem and is also interested in getting it fixed, so I will link him to this thread the next time I see him, as he has been hosting our servers for the past 2 years or so with many different hosts. So, I thought the best way to fix this might be to talk to some other experienced server owners who are having or have fixed this problem, and those who are having it currently may be able to find this thread useful. Please only post if you are a server owner who has this problem and would like some help or are one who has fixed it and can offer some help.
Id also like some help, my server has a weird issue, it gives everyone a connection problem and disconnects them but not a second later its still there(or back) with all the props and entities gone
If its whilst someone is joining, its due to too much lua. Also clear the server cache.
How do you clear the cache? The cache/dua folder?
Delete the cache/dua folder to delete the cache.
Done, thank you. How much do you expect this will help it out? I mean there are a shit ton of files in there but I have no way of counting as I'm just using TCAdmin's File Manager to see stuff.
If I were you, I'd download a FTP Client and tell us how many *.dua files your server is crashing with. It should tell you the selected amount, which would help greatly. From what I can understand, when you host a Garry's Mod server, every client that connects has to get a list of what it needs to send the person. If that list consumes too much of the server's memory, which it does with a high dua file count, then the server will crash because it's unable to function with no resources. You'll get this as an error if your hosting it yourself, but your not, so you can't see it:
Engine Error: Host_Error: Overflow error writing string table baseline LuaStringTable
I have a topic in this forum about the dua file count, and it would help greatly if you could post your info there as well, I'm trying to get the average number of addons that servers might crash at. The idea is that with luck we can establish the safe number of addons before a server starts to experience join crashes.
I deleted them and it seems to have not really solved anything. And I can't seem to access the server's FTP through the FTP client, and the same has happened before with another one I tried (SmartFTP), even though it can connect and says it can, it just times out. I find it very contradicting that a game that flaunts its mass of custom content only allows you to have such a tiny portion of it.
The main problem is too many lua files. If your not using an addon, remove it. Huge addons like wire are useless if your not actively using them.
Guess I'll have to. We only use it now and then for novelty junk anyway. Wire, that is. It's probably the only addon we don't actively use and considering it's size the problem should go away. Thanks for your help and patience :)
