Steam beta needs to be running? Can't do anything... - Garry's Mod

Anytime i try playing singleplayer or creating a multiplayer game the games loads a while. The regular stuff, loading resources and those things. But then one of those grey windows pop up saying something about steam and that i can't connect. If i try to find a multiplayer server it says that steam beta needs to be running and the refresh button is grey (meaning you can't click it). Steam beta? Have i missed something? I try to google on steam beta but it's only a bunch of different betas like the steam community. Very old betas that is since steam community is released. So, lets sum it up. I can't play either singleplayer or multiplayer. I've tried reinstalling Gmod since it's the only game that have this error (i've tried CS:S and it works fine). I tried restarting steam and the computer. The wierd thing is that this started happening just like that. The downloads i downloaded lastly before this started to appear was gm_alpinestruct and those new weapon seats and yes, they are removed but it still wont work. I would appreciate some help!

If you go into steam options, on the first tab, it says beta participation, click on that and go on steam beta

Stands that there are no betas available...

This is an error that usually appears on pirated Source Engine games... Also try to rename your Steam/SteamApps/username/garrysmod folder to something else like garrysmodold and run it, and see what happens

restart your gmod. Happens to me after i use a non steam shortcut

I just restarted steam and Garry's Mod a few times and it started working again. It's a steam API issue, not garry's mod.

Also, my Gmod is NOT pirated... EDIT: Argh! I can only play singleplayer, no multiplayer... Er.. any ideas guys?

Sorry for double post and sorry for bumping but I would need some more help. The problem is still that the multiplayer screen says that steam beta needs to be running and I can't join any multiplayer.
