Hi i am kind of new to garry's mod and when ever i download a map i get errors and pink and black checkered structures i have heard about something called phxe or something like that but i was wondering if there was more stuff i should download that would fix this problem i have any help will be greatly appreciated thank you!

Because you're not supposed to download them. Use SVN.

SVN is a method of downloading...
Anyway, I recommend getting an application such as TortoiseSVN and using the guide located at [url]www.wiremod.com;[/url] the latest version is worth the effort.
