also Topzombie, is blender in conjuction with 3d max or should i just get blender?
@sphinxa279: It looks very hard but its easy to understand.
Edit:
@Pyrite: Blender is a stand alone free model program
@Topzombie: You say it looks very hard, is it complicated with a bunch of tools, or does it have some user friendly settings?
Blender use a shitload of hotkeys and
you NEED to learn the hotkeys.
But its prettys easy.
I learned the basics in a day.
Some basics:

Pyrite, no offense but it sounds like you don't know what you're getting yourself into at all. Modeling is not easy at the start. You will need to actually learn a 3D program first before you even start trying to port your models into source, as it's very daunting especially if you don't know what you're doing. What I recommend is getting the trial of 3D Studio Max, spending a few days learning basic techniques on modeling and texturing and maybe you'll be good to start putting your models into source. If you're going with 3DS Max I recommend www.3DBuzz.com to learn using the video tutorials on their site.
@PieClock: well i understand what your saying and your concerns but i have always been interested in 3D modeling, I currently and in high school and take many java and c++ classes. I want to try new things and also want to contribute artistic creations with my friends and shit like that :D

I started with 3D Studio Max and used online tutorials. It's not a bad way to start learning, you should easily enough be able to get the hang of it, but even I sometimes struggle with getting models into source and I have over a years experience in 3DS Max, as well as taking college classes for it.
Basically what I'm saying is take it one step at a time and learn a 3D program first, instead of taking two steps at once and tripping yourself up.
