• Useless seats (Not a Help & Support thread)

If you make vehicles out of props, you've most likely been in the Chairs section of the Vehicle tab. There are several seats in there. Everything from airboat seats to little wooden chairs. But there are 3 seats which at this point in the game are literally useless, those seats being the Car seats. (The ones that vaguely look like airboat seats but much bigger.) Back in Gmod 12, these seats each had their own sitting animation. 1 was a regular passenger seat, another was a "Roller coaster" seat that made your arms fly up in the air when falling, and the third seat was arguably the best of all, the Driving seat. The driving seat had as you can probably figure, animations for if you were driving. However, as of Gmod 13, the animations of these seats no longer function. They all use the generic passenger animation. The only difference is that 1 sits too far back in the seat (Which appears to be ridiculously large as it is.), another sits in the middle, and the third is too far forward. All of them are utterly ugly, being way too large for any practical use and/or having screwed up sitting positions. So ask this: What is the point of even having these seats still? Personally I say don't remove them. Fix the animations and make the seat model a smaller size. [IMG]http://i.imgur.com/zR9iRlS.png[/IMG]
Those are leftover from PHX being merged into GMod. I do agree on removing them.

I do agree on removing them.[/QUOTE] If they are removed, there should at least be a tool added that lets you set a seat's sitting animation or something. Hell the C menu would work too. I mainly say this because I hate having seats in a car always use the crappy default animation so it almost looks as if they're riding a roller coaster of sorts (Not that specific animation though) and have no interaction with the car. edit: I noticed this- There's three models for them and they're all identical (Seat1, Seat2, and Seat3). I don't know why there's three as they are exactly the same. (Talking about the model not the actual seat.)

I have looked into the code and it seems that at clientside the animations are just reset to defaults, I am going to try and workout a fix for this. [editline]16th January 2014[/editline] [img]http://i.imgur.com/iwrH8pZ.png[/img] Did a little hack, the animation for jeep driving is stuck in FULL LEFT position, the other two animations are working OK. I still hate those seats for stupidly long animations, two of them will be gone, I still don't know what to do with the jeep animation seat.

I could have sworn they were rollercoaster and regular passenger sitting. The latter is obviously useless now. If we can get the driving one to not be so.. er boken, it'd be nice.

The rollercoaster one will be most likely removed in Dev version in a few days, I am still not sure how to go about the other two.
