Hey, you don't really see any friendly conversational threads anymore do you. What's everyones favourite thing to do in garry's mod and why?
Finishing an awesome contraption that you're proud of and seeing a couple of people admiring it and complimenting you. Only friendliness I ever see in GMod nowadays.
I'd have to agree on that. Well from my point of view, the only thing i really see is things downloaded off of GMod.org, or stolen from other people, nothing cool is really made now adays, i remember a few years ago when someone on youtube posted some Colossus video and it ran through the community so fast and everyone started to try and make those huge things. It was fun! Especially nuking them afterwards.
Personally I like making little simple vehicles with wire thrusters and stuff, or turning ragdolls into ride-able flying characters (also with thrusters), making large pixel arts of game sprites, statues and playing with the PAC Editor addon. And sometimes messing with E2 holos and learning a few other things relating to building/wire/general physics of the Source Engine.
For me it would be meeting an friend, and doing something whit him, co-operateing, and having fun... I think all games are based, to have fun, not to be pro in.

It's quite fun, but it's hard for me to picture where to put the squares occasionally, i'm not much of an artist.
For me it would be meeting an friend, and doing something whit him, co-operateing, and having fun... I also find the game more fun without any prop addons or wire or anything. But they're nice to have occasionally.
I use Photoshop with the grid view enabled and zoomed in just far enough on a sprite I'm using for reference where one square is a single pixel. It makes it easier to place where exactly that specific color/pixel goes. You can still mess up and be one square off or so (I did that on the MegaMan one I posted and it took me forever to figure out why something wasn't matching up on the helmet) but it's still simple math. How many squares up/left/right from the side/bottom/a pixel another pixel is.
Successfully welding 2 props together.
Successfully welding 2 props together.
Pfft. Whenever I tempt to weld anything solidly, it black holes. :V
Math. Lots of it. E2 everywhere. People still do make awesome things, but I dont think quite as often. My last project was a 200 prop helix with guided missiles and a nosegun
I remember the first day I had gmod. Didn't know what I was doing, made pillar bridges with balloons everywhere, found the color room and set up a fort, made a boxcar. I think Wire is largely to blame for making gmod build not as creative anymore.

It Does open up alot of possibilities for the game, but I think it took away alot of creativity as well. Does anyone ever notice that the best part of games is when you first start playing, because everything is undiscovered. Sometimes I look back into the days when I was a minge and I always think "Wow, that was so fun. Too bad now I can do that in a few seconds." Zombie slaying in Noxiousnet
I would say playing it with my friends, but seeing as the only friends I know who has this games are textbook definitions of minges, I'm going to go ahead and say TTT.
I agree with that so i like this thread :) and i havent been on gmod for about a year now and i miss it so much and ive got a problem with my memory so i cant remember what i most like doing on gmod :o
Attempting to make a working catapult. Still have yet to make one, successfully. Other than that, I usually like to make vehicles and what not.

Back in Gmod 9, my brother and I were up all night messing around with a simple cannon. Dynamite in the bottom of the green trash bin. I set up a fence at the other end of construct near the water, we were set up by the garage. I turned up the damage scale on the fence so it would break whenever we hit it with anything. An unearthly amount of time spent lobbing props around. We also used to play with a friend by the name of Doc on one of the early freespace maps ( 3, I think ) who would make "missions" for when we were there. He would spawn some npcs in the apartment buildings or the warehouse near where we were, and we had to sweep the building and clean them out and get something back out if memory serves. Although we never had to kill breen without cheating. Both of those are simple minge activities now, but were so much fun at the time. Makes me want to do something like that around this christmas or something.
Build and fly ships in spacebuild.
Simple mingebag stuff. I am NOT a creative person, and if I think of something cool, I'll never be able to build it.
I love to play deathrun

Make Huge WW2 poses
Make Huge WW2 poses
I was never into ragdoll posing myself.
Extreme Football Throwdown.
Attempting to make a working catapult. Still have yet to make one, successfully.
Extreme Football Throwdown.
Hell yeah, that's so much fun :)
Build vehicles. Then drive them. Then, inevitably, crash them.
Build vehicles. Then drive them. Then, inevitably, crash them.
The last part is the best.
