I just purchased a Gmod server and I am having TONS of problems setting it up. I am in need of some help. If someone wouldn't mind helping me setup/install what I need on the server, I will give full access and admin to the server. You also may add what you would like to the server or test what you want. I am using DarkRP and need help with some things about DarkRP. I am new to this stuff and do not know how to do a lot of Gmod Server Stuff. If anyone could help me, please pm me or add me on steam and message me. Thanks
Well, a dedicated server is basically a computer in your home that you use as a server. For this kind of server, it's best to use high-end computers, and DO NOT USE THE SAME COMPUTER THAT YOU PLAY ON. If you do that, your computer will have to process the graphics twice, and that WILL lead to crashes. For this, use the hldsupdatetool (yes, that is it's name). Other than that, I can't help you.
I am talking about a server I purchased from a game server company.. lol
Ahh I can help with a few things. I've set up two servers before, I think that I can point you in the right direction. Steam name please. And I will take you up on the offer of admin on it :3

A dedicated server is any process that is dedicated to handling all the data and processes of that server. It does not neccisarily mean it ALWAYS hosted at home. All those servers you play on that are rented/purchased are Dedicated Servers. Edit: Smoking. I also told you I can still help out, just not for the duration of this week. I cant do any FTPing/Playing, but I can definately tell you how to do things.
ok Skull ty. Ill talk to you on steam.
Since when did srcds "process graphics"
Thats one thing a server has to do. Even if you have a server with a low ping, if it's low-end, then it will still be prone to crashes if, say, someone sets off several nukes at once. (Sometimes I've seen them crash with only one)
A server doesn't process graphics you retard.
Really? I was told that it did... Hmmm... Oh well, still don't think it's a good idea.

The server merely sends the plans for what to draw on the client. [editline]09:30AM[/editline]
definately
It's definitely god damnit
