My friend tells me that when Gmod 10 came out 4 years ago that it was free for 1 week before Steam bought it. Is that true?

When gmod [i]1[/i] came out it was free. Only for a few days however.
No, and steam didn't 'buy' Gmod.
Garry got his mod nominated for actual commercial release, and went through with it.

No, I'm not completely sure when it came out but I've had it for 2+ years, so no.
The previous versions before Gmod 10 was free because it was still just a mod. It wasn't a full-blown commercial mod.

i know how much it costs read the question again...
We had a Gmod1, and a Gmod2, upto Gmod9. Those were all free. Then Garry made Gmod10 years ago which was 10$. So yes, Garry's Mod was free before Gmod10. Gmod10 was never free however.
Gmod 9 was free, also I thought gmod 10 came out 2-3 years ago? :0
