Erm, I forgot to ask about my router. Do you think its fast enough to handle 8 players on my server? Its a NetGear DG834GT.

A router is rarely the cause of lags.

Why wouldn't it be?. Hosting SRCDS isn't that intensive on the router...
You should take a networking class, it might help you later in life.

I'm sure the router will never dip below 100 Mbps

Networking class? Its not that, Im asking your opinion if Im able to run a server with 8 players.

Yessss but what I was saying if you had any knowledge with any kind of servers you would know your speed is what matters most, post your speedtest here and your CPU, RAM and all that crap and we can tell you how many slots you should be able to run.

This is where you need to take a networking class.
0.25Mbps = 32KB/s.
Usually you want sandbox to have a maxrate of 30000.
32KB/s - 30KB/s = 2KB/s.
That is all that will be left over.
EVEN ASSUMING YOU DO A 10000 RATE, YOU WILL STILL ONLY BE ABLE TO FIT THREE SLOTS - WITH LAG. A LOT OF LAG.
In other words, it sounds perfectly right to me.
