Friend can't join server, says server not responding.
Ports 27015-27020 have been forwarded, still nothing.
Went into DMZ mode, nothing.
Connecting to my IP or server IP gives message "failed after 4 tries".
Joining via friends list, server not responding.
I am frustrated, my hands hurt from punching my desk, and my head hurts from this whole ordeal.
I just bought her Gmod so we could play something together, but fate has to throw this BS at me. Any help at all would be much appreciated.
Router is Linksys [B]WRT54G2.[/B]
Let me guess...
You guys are trying to join without actually having the IP. She's just trying to connect to a lan IP.
It's a bit of a dumb, but basic mistake. What's happening is that her computer tries to connect to a server that doesn't excist, the IP she gets through steam is not your IP, it's your lan IP.
She was most likely attempting to connect to a IP like 192.168.2.3:27015. This only works if you are connected to the same router.
Go to [url]http://www.whatsmyip.org/[/url] your IP will be visible at the top. That's your IP.
I used ipchicken.com. I'm not a novice.
You just sound like you don't have a clue what you are doing.

Are both of you able to connect to other servers? Would it be possible for her to host a server and you connect to her?

Well, I think he does it's kind of common sense really to not connect to a local IP address...

Well you'd be annoyed, you buy Gmod for a friend and it turns out you can't play it together due to some stupid Port Forwarding issue, then even when you forward the ports it still doesn't work, you would be pissed off.

It does, people using smilies unnecessarily, just sometimes annoys me, especially when I'm tired and at work, it's just annoying.

It's fine, I'm only doing database work, it's slow and uninteresting, importing 20,000 products into a database is boring, but all I have to do is watch some crappy little counter and browse facepunch
