HL2DM and CSS content appear to have vanished on my Garry's Mod. (The only CSS maps I have are custom/downloaded.) I have HL2DM and CSS content checked off and even did a fresh installation of my GMod folder. It was working just yesterday, and an update occurred as I was loading this game up today. I validated my HL2DM and CSS GCF files, and this still happens.

[b]UPDATE:[/b] Apparently you have to be signed into friends for the content to load properly. (Odd to me because I usually go offline before I enter GMod in the past.) Thread can be locked.
Source engine was just updated wasn't it? Try making sure they're all updated.
I had this happened too when TF2 was in the middle of updating. Let the game in question finish updating, then it would work as normally.
You might want to check to see if your games have stopped updating (Eg. shows as "suspended"). If they are, just keep on resuming the download. Some times it can be a pain in the rear.
i too am missing css content. I own all the games, but it doesnt load the materials.
steam game library > right click CSS/GMOD/HL2 > properties
check each game's update tab. I didnt realize I had disabled auto updates for HL2 and CSS
