I'm not trying to bash anyone here (maybe execpt for #8, #4, #3 and #2) as they at least put some effort into making a real addon in the first place.
For mine, it would be:
10. "Addon" packs (A.K.A I AM LAZY SO I'M GOING TO STEAL PEOPLES ADDONS SO I CAN GET LOTSA DOWNLOADS)
9. Make your own background tutorial (This caused a whole wave of failure listed at #8)
8. Custom Backgrounds [url=http://garrysmod.org/downloads/?a=view&id=45887]Example[/url] (Most of them are unoriginal, shitty and useless.
7. Wiremod (It's a great addon, and great things can be made with it, but people stopped using their imaginations once this thing came out, everything is raped by laggy models and I want to play gmod not math.)
6. PHX3 (Same as wiremod, it makes contraptions look BORING most of the time.)
5. Simple Prop Protection (Sadly this is the only prop protection, but it's TOO restrictive, why the fuck can't another player press a button I spawned without having to add them to my buddy list and risk all of my shit getting fucked up)
4. Any "KILL BREEN MAP DUHR HUR" Save games. They're not maps for Christ sake...

No, it's not a stupid reply, you try making an addon, see how hard it is (I'm on about the full LUA thing, not just a background). Then maybe you will appreciate some of the addons out there. Also DarkRP didn't kill RP my bandwagon humping friend, the retarded 5-Year olds who play it did.
This thread is pointless, the only thing I agree with is the saves, custom BG that are just images not made by them, and addon packs.

I hate wire. It makes things over complicated.
My most hated addon are the skins for weapons, npcs etc. once you add them to gmod and you dont like them anymore it takes forever to find where the frig you put it. but one that i do like is the HD skin for the HL2 weapons, they make the guns look for more realistic.

-Addon packs are for people who would like to download one thing and get it over with. Rather than go through garrysmod.org and try to find each and everyone.
-Background tutorials aren't addons. They are called "tutorials" for a reason.
-Backgrounds aren't addons.
-You can do much more contraptions with wiremod than you could even possibly imagine with the simple standard tools. If you don't want to deal with it, then don't install it and don't join any server that is running it. Simple enough right?
-PHX3 gives you more props that are used for building or other things. The props side-by-side may be boring, but you can create some of the coolest things if you put them together. You should know that since you like standard garrysmod building right?
-Lets look at the name of the next addon "Simple Prop Protection." May I direct you to the first word. That is all on this one.
-Kill breen map saves aren't addons. They are saves...
-Legox seems to have a simple collection of contraptions. He's not professional but they aren't addons. They look more like saves of what he's made and he wants to share it with people.
-The "DUUDY CAR WIF LIGHTS XD" thing is also not an addon, but a save of something a person has created and wants to share it. If you don't want to find things like this. Then don't go searching for it.
-DarkRP is not an addon, but a gamemode. DarkRP didn't kill RP. It's the massive amount of immature kids that have taken over communities that run it and play on it.
I'm going to restate what other people have said in a different way though.
Don't judge other people's creations if you, yourself haven't created something just as good or better.
There is an option in in Simple Prop Protection that actually lets you give other players access to your buttons etc without buddy'ing them. :)
I don't have a top ten but the Dick Mobile sucks, Go look it up.

Criticism of an addon is different from a movie. But the keyword I saw there was "professional." If he's professional that means he's learned what the public likes.
Usually when addons are reviewed they are reviewed by temperamental kids who love to make themselves feel better by putting other people down.

5. Most maps - No one ever uses them.

Except that most of EVERY build server uses it. Wiremod is actually a good addon, but I hate it because you can't build a normal contraption without some asshole either making fun of you or destroying your contraption (This has actually happened to me several times).

Just because I criticize something doesn't mean I have to make something like it myself in order to justify my opinion. I've tried making addons myself. It's really hard. But if you are going to release it, people expect it to be fun, polished off and not so many glitches. You could slave a bunch of work into a addon, but it can still end up being shit.
And it's good to see that some people are not bitching and actually posted their top ten list.

I gotta say you had the greatest points. Not to mention with the Backgrounds. There are a lot of nerds that like to create backgrounds of Porno or Hentai. And Wire mod and PHX. The game was so creative and happy then those shitty mods came in and now imagination is gone. Its like you need the IQ of 240 to be a pro these days. The only reason I have those mods is so I can see that shit.
Its like, we defiantly should get rid of wire mod, its not like 95% of the best stuff created in GMOD uses it.
