I used to play Gmod but I had to restart my computer and now want to play again. I redownloaded everything and when I start it up, it goes to the loading screen with the guy holding the physgun. It then goes to my desktop and says hl2.exe has stopped working. I've already uninstalled everything and did it again but still nothing. Also, when I try to go the the store and stuff on Steam, it says... Unable to connect to HTTP Proxy. Your proxy may be misconfigured or offline.-336
I'm pretty sure the Steam connection error is unrelated.
Can you load any other hl2.exe games? (Half-Life: 2, Counter-Strike: Source e.g)

Ok this might fix your problem. See your graphics card may not support dx9 so, Go to games library in steam. Right click GMOD > Properties > Set launch options, then put in this.
"-dxlevel 80" (without quotes)
This runs the game at a lower dx level and might help run it faster. I had this same problem on my laptop, but this fixed it. You can also run it at -dxlevel 70, but there are known bugs and glitches like the spawn menu transparency.

No problem. Always here to help. Now the HTTP proxy thing, that has something to do with your internet or wireless setup. you might want to seek a networking forum for that. Im not very handy with that kind of stuff as of now.
okay and will this work with team fortress 2 also? because i think this is also happening with my friend
