I am running I SRCDS on my PC. It was working at one point, then there was a gmod update, and when I updated the server and put it back up, nobody could connect to it! I can use the connect and get to it, but when I give my friends the same IP that I use to connect, it won't work. I didn't do anything different then the last time! What could be wrong! I've been googling and reading lots of different threads, most helpers have been saying the same thing over and over again and it DOESNT WORK they are IDIOTS!
PS. I keep seeing one idiot going around telling everyone that the server won't show up in your Internet tab it it's running on your computer. That is a LIE as it showed up in my internet tab...before.
Make sure your ports are still forwarded, sv_lan is still 0, and that you're giving your friends the correct IP (whatismyip.org).

Hmm...Suddenly I can't get onto the port forwarding thing. I'm using the right IP, but I still can't get it.
EDIT: I got onto the port forwarding thing, and it didn't save the forward. I think it's because I was using InPrivate possibly? idk, but I went on normally and did it and it's there! Thanks, without that comment I would never have checked because I knew I did it already.
YOU'RE using the right IP, BUT you're on an internal network. You'd also most likely have a dynamic IP address. What your friends need, is your external IP. If you want to try a fast and dirty way of port forwarding, See if you can DMZ the router. When port forwarding/enabling DMZ make sure you use cmd and ipconfig to find out the internal IP of the server.

If I were you I wouldn't even touch that. Opening that, is like surfing the internet with no firewall on, nor antivirus. You're just asking to get attacked.
Mainly use ports 27015, 27006, 27039, then go to www.ipchicken.com and retrieve the IP and give it to friends. And tell them to connect to that ip using console. Make sure you also add "sv_lan 0" in your server.cfg file.
I had a problem yesterday with something similar. For some reason steam was using 27015. So I needed to tell the server to use port 27016 by typing "hostport 27016" in the server.cfg file. Then I opened the port. And it worked.
