well, few day ago i download Gmod 10 via Steam
but the game is too heavy(14 GB),so i uninstall Steam, but i still keep garrysmod folder, there are some other game content(cfg file) to work with Gmod, but i delete some of them.
now i reinstall Steam, and copy my Gmod folder back in Steamapps, but when i login Steam,Gmod can't find.
i just don't know how to bring it back and launch the game via Steam
i dun want to redownload the whole 14GB again :(
I Think what you need to do is go to steam library and click on "add a game," then browse for hl2.exe under "steam/steamapps/yoursteamname/garrysmod/"
You should have "hl2.exe" somewhere, add it.
But i'm not sure this will help, yeah.
Umm, it's not 14gb.
He probably didn't have any other source games installed and had to DL all the .gcfs.
Also, badboy, there is a built in backup function in steam. You should just use that the next time.

i just download Gmod only,it's 4GB
but after i download, play the game a few second and turn off(first time run it load very very long),and then computer show me my C driver don't have free space,i open it and my C driver have... 1mb left.
i check on Steam folder and it got 14 GB(have a lot of content: hl2,css,dod,tf2,portal,...)
@Emz:thanks,i'll try
My god, your grammar is horrible!
Badboy I was more pointing out how much space my Gmod took, 4042Mb, but I guess I also helped at the same time. Squarebob already explained why you had to download 14GB. :)

I give you credit, you're doing a better job than most folks do who come in to forums with English as their second or third language.
hey guy :(
a next button doesn't appear
i tried to copy garrysmod folder to Backup model, but the "next" button doesn't work
I think that happens because content Gmod attemps to mount will be automatically downloaded by Steam
so that's mean i have to download it again?????
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

I think not.

I'm not American either.
You need a bigger hard drive.
Garry just needs to fix the darn mounting options so you can turn off mounting of some games once again.
I don't need TF2 or Portal in gmod, no one uses it!! Extra 10gb of gcf's just sitting there taking up space.
guy stop fucking spam in this topic without any answear :|
i really fucked up now....
Try deleting Garry's Mod and reinstall that, it's really not that big.
Right click Garry's Mod in your steam games list -> Delete Local Content.

oh damn (facepalm)
this is just getting worse
Start up garrysmod, go to garrysmod settings, then uncheck every game except for one. Exit garrys mod, go to steam, library, then uninstall the games you unchecked by deleting the local content.
Hope this helps, this is what I understand the problem is.
again :(
i said i can't run Gmod it without Steam(i download on Steam),if u said i launch it without Steam that mean u are pirate????(don't get mad at me but i think)
here, before unstall Steam,i copy by "garrysmod" folder to somewhere, and after reinstall Steam,i put it in
but the game won't show in Steam, and i can't back up either
Ok, so you can't run it in steam? If you own it, it should show in your library as "not installed". Start the install and then pause it. Now copy the files into the folder and resume the install. If it just goes on downloading, then pause it and try to verify the local content (and then resume it again).
All-in-all, you should only have to download any new patches.
