how do i get an addons folder on garrys mod?

i got garrys mod today and after a few hours of playing it i wanted to download some stuff of the garrys mod website so i could download maps and weapons etc but when i went so save the files to the add on area under C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\(username)\garrysmod\garrysm od/addons but when i went to go on the addons bit it wasnt there how can i get one or fix this. thanks

try creating the folder "addons" and placing it in the right place then put your stuff inside the folder. It should work.
