Has anybody gotten Gmod to work on windows 7?
The new PC I"m getting will have windows 7 on it, and so I would like to know.
Thanks
Of course.
Why does everyone think it won't work?
It works, fool.

If it managed to work on any of the previous OS, it will definetly work on Windows 7. If it didn't work before, it's a greater chance for it to work on windows 7.
Windows 7 is not the new vista, where everything has to be changed to work without problems. It "just works".

I just wanted some reassurance, and I couldn't find anything stating whether or not it would work, so it was unknown to me.
I have Windows 7 and it works without any problems :psylon:

Well from now on you know there's no reason to doubt. If it doesn't work, there's always something you can do.
It works alirght except if it freezes for too long when your eg: loading spawn icons, and someone kills you, because it freezes for to long Data-Execution Prevention will close gmod and come up with a "gmod stopped responding message", xp is a bit more lenient, ofcoarse you can always turn DEP off, however if it actually freezes, it wont close it for you. :)
It works perfectly on windows 7 :buddy:
Windows 7 Ultimate 86x here and it's running epicly.

Well generally, if there's nothing to say it doesn't work, that means it does work.
It works perfectly and so does every other Valve game and any other old games I've played so far.
And if it doesn't work (BS), just right click GMOD icon and click properties then snoop around the tabs. There is a option called: "Run this Program in compattibility with" and pick XP or Vista. (I don't know how to spell compatibility or whatever, sorry)
I have windows 7, and I get laggy from big props, and also when I try to join a server, sometimes it keeps timing out on me.
I must say it works even better on my Windows 7 PC.

That has nothing to do with W7, it's because a) you have a shit PC and b) you have a shit internet connection.

That is why.

Maybe because gmod came out before win7 and no one has bothered to update the system requirements?

6GB DDR3 Ram
Quad Core 2
Radeon 5750
750GBHDD
20MBPS Internet Connection
I think it runs alot smoother on 7 Personally.

Gmod can only use 1 core because of LUA, xp uses less resources then 7, xp will allways be faster, kind of sad really, you have a quad core, 3 cores will sit idle.

No, actually. The processor will end up "juggling" between cores, which can end up hurting performance. At least on Win XP.
Hey does gmod work on win 7 32bit ultimate?
and do i need only coutner strike source or team fortress 2 to amke gmod work?
and i can buy it from steampowered.com?
Hey does gmod work on win 7 32bit ultimate?
Yes. Win7 is already used by tons of people, it's safe to assume it'll work based on the fact that Win7 specific issues are scarce.
and do i need only coutner strike source or team fortress 2 to amke gmod work?
Any Source game should do.
and i can buy it from steampowered.com?
Yes.
TY i will buy a legal version as soon as possible.
Works for me at least
So does pretty much any steam game work for Win7 64bit? Because I'm getting a new laptop that is really good, but they only have win7 64 bit for the OS.

It does not depend from whether the game's on steam or not, it depends on when the game it released; some older games may have problems with win7.

Oh shut up with the 1 core only bullshit already.
Garry said that the lua engine can NOT use multi-threading but that the rendering engine CAN.

So 1.6GHz i7 > 2.4Ghz Dual core?
