• Dark RP is a good RP

Indeed it is, it's simplicity makes it good. I hate RPs with super realism, where everything is realist, it's like real life, only being in a game. Realism doesn't make things better, quality does. Tell me what do you think about DRP
With the right people, DarkRP is definitely one of the best gamemodes. Sadly, the "right people" are getting harder to find these days.
DarkRP is an abdomination of a gamemode. It is realism that makes roleplay fun. If you want to run around with an AK74 shooting everyone just to boost your e-peen, I suggest you try Counter Strike: Source.
DarkRP can be realistic and enjoyable with major changes.
Dark RP is entertaining to say the least. I just don't like the idiots it spawns.
I'd say DarkRP is the nuclear substance of all gamemodes. With the right people, it can power up a massive community successfully. With the wrong people, it will just end up as a major disaster.

Simplicity can also lead to fucking idiots which is all DarkRP is.
I just hate when people have jobs like Hitman and TWO sets of criminals and the SWAT and 5 types of drug dealers and 2 types of gun dealers and The mayor and the governor and the santa clause and his reindeer as JOBS! Fucks sake.

One server I've gone to requires that you type each action you take before you do something. *unholsters gun* *aims gun* *dodges punch* *shoots you in face* (not a good example because it's near impossible to even get a gun.) It's like one of those typing adventures from the 80s-90s I think it was Half-Life 2 rp.
Sounds like TnB or Reich. TnB is seriously involved in serious roleplay, but a good majority of their admins have childish attitudes, and don't uphold to their own rules. With the way the standards are set it's almost a two sided hell where only one person controls the hottest part.

Running around shooting shit is not roleplaying, DarkRP should be renamed to DarkDM, so at least we know its a deathmatch server to cut off the whining.
People have very diverse opinions about what kind of RP is fun. There is no point to argue about it. DarkRP is good if that's what you like.

9 times out of 10 darkRP doesn't work. Needz moar lightRP.
About a year ago I used to love DRP on the iGmod.org server, but towards the end of the community I changed my attitude towards DarkRP. Most servers are ran by the range of 10-12 year olds, and they have no idea what they're doing. So instead I join the server and go hakabooshki with some props. But anyway, Darkrp is fun when the person incharge knows what they are doing, if not: It's a shamble.
If the right people were to play Dark Rp it would be fine, but when you have 6 year olds as mayors telling his cops to RDM then Dark RP turns back to shit. What we need is a Dark Rp on a map accept for fucking downtown and evocity, something that is un common but fun. IF you get my idea send me a message of the sever.
DarkRP would be awesome if the following would be done: - Maps other than rp_downtown or rp_evocity such as rp_saari or rp_townsend_v1p - Smarter community - Well thought out jobs, such as bartender or PC salesman instead of "thief" and "zombie". - Only having citizen, government, and sales jobs. If you want to do something like be a hotel manager, just be a citizen and type /job hotel manager. - guns more expensive and illegal - against the rules to make giant mingeforts out of blastdoors - more stuff to sell/buy other than guns and explosives such as : furniture, plants, tools, cars, clothing, food, accessories (such as coffee cups and hula dolls), storage containers (crates, cabinets, etc.), electronics (cell phones that allow you to PM anywhere for a cost, flashlights, etc.), computers, hardware (so you can construct your own stuff), and more.

There has to be a line from TF2 and Heavy Rain. I hate servers where you have to buy props. I like decorating my house. I agre with some of the other stuff you say but what you ask is impossible. There will always be minges, there will always be absuive admins, and thats what makes it special. If you really want to rp, get together some friends and make your own private server. Screen people before you let them in the server and change the password every month. Your not going to get a smarter coumunity on public servers. Its all a bunch of 10 year old kids playing.
Melon Brew was the only "unrestricting" RP that did it right.
Dark RP is a good RP.
:rimshot: Edit: Nothing will ever kill Dark RP as the top mad gundealer killing spree gamemode for Gmod tho.
In theory with good roleplayers, it's actually ok. But... So many minges are on those servers now turning even more people into minges, and spawning even more servers of their own. It's like a virus.
RP = Role-play, so, you have a character and you evolve him, you can make a background for your character, you can do several things with him. In the DarkRP, you have just a RPname, you don't have a character, then, it's not really a RP, i don't like DarkRP :)

This also meant that unless you were in that niche group your freedom to roleplay anything other than "Banana salesman" or "Store guy" was pretty much nil. I appreciate the need to keep some of the more roleplay heavy and responsibility heavy jobs to people you trust, but don't treat the average server goer like shit on your shoe by default. But of course it's "Realistic to the roleplay." Another reason I don't like HL2RP.
Even Rick is ashamed of creating DarkRP, it isn't good because of the people it attracts.
