• Complete Multiplayer Fail

My friend just got Garry's Mod, and we're trying to play multiplayer together. But whenever I click "Join in Game," it tells me "Server is not responding." Same thing for him when he does it. What's the point of having multiplayer if you're unable to use it? P.S. My friend and I created our own servers. Dunno if that has anything to do with it.
Check that port 27015 / 27016 TCP & UDP are forwarded. Also check if you use the correct IP (the external one, not the internal one).
I'm getting the same problem, how do you forward your ports and how do you change your IP?
You don't change your ip, you just pick the right one (you give your external ip to your friends). Also port forwarding differs on each router model, try going here : http://portforward.com/.
Everywhere I go, It says you need port 27015. This is true, but you also need port 27005 too.

If you want to find out your IP to forward your IP to, do the following. 1. Open your command prompt (Windows) 2. Type ipconfig 3. Look for an IPv4 Address. Something like 192.168.2.3 or something.

I have no clue what you're talking about. Would I do that in My Computer or something? Or does it have to do with Steam/Garrysmod?

If you don't understand them, I doubt you're fit for hosting.

You COULD just use Hamachi, you know.

Setting up a private Listen server is quite easy to do with Hamachi and doesn't require any port forwarding. Here's a little step-by-step tutorial on how to set up a private listen server via Hamachi. Download Hamachi. Check the Conditions of Use box and click on the "Download Now" button under Unmanaged. Install Hamachi. Create a Hamachi network and give your friends who will be joining the network's ID and password (if it has one). Also note the number across the top of the Hamachi window. This is your Hamachi fake IP. Start the Source game which you will be hosting a server for. Open the console and type in "sv_lan 0". Start a server. Have your friend(s) use the "connect" command followed by your Hamachi fake IP followed by ":27015" (unless you've changed the server's port). For example, connect 1.2.345.67:27015. If your friend(s) gets something along the lines of "Restricted: Class C Error", use the "map" command to switch to a different map, and have him/her/them try again. If your friend gets "Failed to connect after 4 retries", either one or both (or all) of you do not have Hamachi running, your friend(s) are not connected to your Hamachi network (or vice-versa), or your friend(s) used the connect command to attempt to connect to a non-existent server. Agree, use Hamachi if you want it temp and/or private. And when you want to do it again, with any of your other friends on the Hamachi network, the framework will still be there.
Hamachi is shit and would require more effort than forwarding a few ports.
