Yea, this has been happening for quite a while now...
Every time i want to play gmod i have to set my video settings to what I like, because the next time i start gmod it has just reversed the settings again.
And yes, the read-only check box on config.cfg is not checked.
Anyone with a solution?
I heard this happens in dx 9 mode. Are you running it in that mode?

What are your launch options?
Set up your settings and do host_writeconfig "config name goes here without "" in console, exit the game and in your gmod launch options add +exec "config name here"

Huh? I checked my launch options and for some extremely weird reason it was set to run in some DirectX mode. I removed it and now it works! Yay! Thanks for the help everyone...

Yup. You had used the -dxlevel launch option. It WILL reset all of your settings every time the game starts as long as it's still there.
Weird.
Not weird, it's supposed to do that, along with -autoconfig.
