• Maps load, but look wierd?

When I am spawned on a map, the map is covered in rainbow colors instead of the usual green and whatnot. It doesn't affect gameplay, though. The same thing happens with Counter Strike: Source; they load, but have RAINBOW colors. Wtf? My computer has the recommended specs for both the games....
Well, I tried to Google it, and I can't even see something on that problem. Could you post a screenshot please? Maybe I could get some better keywords.
Yeah, me too.... Well, I got Gmod a few hours ago, and from the start, when I clicked "Play Singleplayer" and chose my map, no matter which map it was, when I was spawned everything was in rainbow colored squares. Not pixels, but mid sized squares. Like I said, it doesn't affect gameplay (all the props can be moved/seen/played around with in their regular appearances), and the sound is alright too. I tried multiplayer, too, and I get the same problem... Okay, I'll post some screenshots up in a few hours tops. Thanks for the help.
What are the specs of your computer?
Yeah, like butters asked post your specs just incase. Wait wait wait, squares? are they purple and black?
Windows XP Pent. 4 processor(2.8 GHz) 3062 MB RAM Direct X 9 Graphics card Oops, sorry... looks like I overestimated my PC for a second there! Still, I shouldn't be having these problemos.... [editline]03:31PM[/editline] Yeah.... basically the colors you get in the lines when your TV goes berserk... (yellow, purple, black, green, etc.)
Do you have any post processing effects on?
check that your graphic card is not over heating.
@Tobba- what is this and how do I check if I do? @green bandit- okay, how do I do that? Sorry guys, I'm kinda a noob...
Still no screenshots? THey will help us figure out the problem dude!
I'll get them up as soon as possible...
Q->Post Processing, check if you have anything ticked there, if so untick them
Nope, nothing ticked... [editline]05:44PM[/editline] How does one post pictures on this site? I've got them ready, but I can't copy them on this reply box.. [editline]05:54PM[/editline] How does one post pictures on this site? I've got them ready, but I can't copy them on this reply box..
[img]C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\catsnpickles\garrysmod\garrysmod\screenshots[/img] [editline]11:27PM[/editline] Ahh would someone please tell me how this works!
You have to host the pictures on an image hosting site first, such as imageshack or tinypic.
Thanks for the screenshot in advance, these will help us a lot more than words ^^

that is really fucking weird. might be your GPU going..?
True, true.... what's GPU? xD
[QUOTE=catsnpickles;23848606]True, true.... what's GPU? xD[/QUOTE] that be the graphics processing unit, mah boi
Thanks, uh, bro..... I'll check it out....
Oh wow... Does this happen in any games? Or any source games you have in particular? edit: Other than CSS
Try renaming C:/Program Files/Steam/Steamapps/*USERNAME*/garrysmod to garrysmod_old Then start the game, you might have joined a bad server [editline]08:45PM[/editline] its probbably your graphics card overheating/broken graphics card memory I had that once, but it happened in every game Also if you left some weed behind your computer your GPU might have smoked it...
Pentium 4 CPU is usually paired with more Intel products onboard, The problem here is that you could be using a computer from a vendor or a laptop. Your saying that it supports DX9, by that it means you have the drivers for DX9 installed, thus you really only have DirectX 8 or 7 supported. Based on your knowledge of these brands I am guessing that you got smart talked into buying a second hand computer?
@BurritoBazooka- I don't know. GMod and CS:S are the only source games I've got. @Tobba- I tried renaming it, and I still get the same problem. Yeah, that's probably what it is, the GC.... and that's an idea! xD @ElLekay- O_o haha. Had to read it three times to get it... Yeah, I've really no idea. It's actually my dad's computer, and he's a programmer, so I would think he would know about what he was doing when he was buying it... but I'll ask him. Thanks for the help, guys.... Oh, and @Tobba- should I rename it back to garrysmod, or it won't matter?
Download this [url]http://www.piriform.com/speccy[/url] Post here the exact specifications
@Oppy- I'll give it a try when my dad comes back from his work, because it requires an administrative status. I also noticed something else.... on any maps NOT from GMod (For EX: my CS:S maps) after I am spawned it gives a short message saying "Node graph out of date. Rebuilding." Hopefully this can create some more ideas to get what's wrong...
Node graph rebuilding is pretty normal the first time you spawn on a map, it's generating the paths for NPCs to travel on. Your rainbow colored maps could indicate a problem with your Graphics card. Also, did you try re-installing?
Yeah...okay then. I'll try reinstalling, and give you guys a shout if everything's fixed. If not, I'm betting it's a problem with the graphics card. By the way, how do you check if your graphics card is messed up? Like, how do you take it out(if you are supposed to). ON TO REINSTALLING!
Yup, it's either your graphics cards drivers, or the card itself, I guess the card.
