i got some problems too.
in my case i can start it but it is loading forever!
today i wanted to install it new but it doesnt uninstall.
when i make a right klick on garrys mod in my steam library and then on delete lokal data. then there appears another window which asks me if i really want to delete it. then i klick on the button delete but the only thing that happens is that the window and the shortcut on my desktop dissapear.
does somebody got an idea how to solve this problem?
How many addons do you have? Try removing all of them by renaming the addons folder, and see if GMod will start.
i dont have any addons!
in the addons folder is only an empty .txt-file called addons.txt
Okay then, delete the local content like you did, then go to your steamapps\username folder and delete the folder called garrysmod.
Then when you reinstall GMod, it will be a completely new install
i installet it new but it still doesnt work
Post your system specs. Can your computer even run it?
Do you have an original or a pirated copy?
I have the game legally bought on steam.
as a proof please follow the link.

i dont really know where i can see my system specs. i do know a lot about computers but not everything. but i think it should work because the orange box works and other games like gta san andreas, tm nations forever, star wars battlefront 2, etc. all work perfectly.
you think it might be pfotoshopped?

Your problem is an integrated chipset. Not really the ideal choice to play games with considering the lack of quality and terrible performance.
Try adding -dxlevel 80 to your launch options by Right-click on Garry's Mod > Properties > General tab > Set launch options
Yeah, Intel is not known for making video cards. The best you can do is turn stuff down as much as possible and try to bear with it.
My laptop has a Mobile Intel 4 chipset and I can run gm_bigcity with everything on full ON MULTIPLAYER and still get 20-30 FPS (Yes, I know that's not good, but it's not as bad as the GMA series.)
I don't think that's the problem here. It's more than likely the fact that he only has 2GB of RAM.
is your computer plugged in?

I had 1GB of RAM and it ran fine.
I think it's more of a Combination of the specs.

Do you have a laptop? If so, plug it in and set it to high performance.
