Is Garry´s Mod fun? Im really thinking of buying it, not just because it looks interesting, but also to expand my Lua "skills". I played this "kid" game called Roblox, is this in the same or maybe close to that category?

Depends on what you like doing. We can't say if it would be fun for you or not. But I personally think it's fun.

Comparing any game to Roblox should be illegal. GMod is pretty much nothing like Roblox. If you like Roblox, you should probably stay there and far away from here.

The only downside is that it takes a while to learn what all of the tools do, and you need a lot of tutorials. So basically, your on your own in this game

Having like 550 hours in the game I can tell you its very fun. Been playing it for 2 years so its beginning to get boring for me now as I have done everything I can think of but yeah get it, the game is cheap, its easy to run, its fun and above all its creative. Go for it.

There has never been a time I regret buying Garry's Mod. So yes, it's fun.

What a good game is is a very subjective thing. Gmod, covers pretty much all your bases. You have a physics sandbox, a sandbox, an FPS, a zombie game, a math game, a game on which to practice programming, an engineering game... it all depends on how you play it. The only thing it doesnt cover is scale. Its kind of limited in mapsize because of the source engine. Thats what minecraft is for. ver Gmod construction can get very advanced, as can its programming. Both can get into upper level mathmatics very quickly, esspecially when replicating a physical mechanism like helicopter mechanics. In my many years of gmod I have used and have seen used all mathematical disiplines from arithmetic to Calc. Each has a purpose. If you just want a game where you shoot things, this game is not for you. You will get bored shooting things pretty quickly. Now If i find myself in a situation with nothing to build and long bored of shooting things, what I do is write a complex code that uses high level math to kill things really fast. Math is fun, it can kill zombies much faster then you can, and its far more satisfying. Personally, I love gmod, but its not for everyone. Preticularly in advanced build, like on my server. Pretty much everyone is well established and capable of high order math. To give you an idea of the kind of people who play advanced build, here is a quick demographic of my server. I have about 15 regulars. Of those 15, three, including myself, are real world pilots. We are almost all able to program in at least one language. Most of us can program in two. A few of us are in higher education pertaining to computer programming. Gmod isnt really a generic FPS. If your not used to this type of thing, its really not what you are expecting. Just messing around like you see in a lot of youtube vidoes can get pretty tedious, for me anyway. When I first played gmod, it wasnt what I expected, but I liked its premise. However I do know that most people dont jump on the whole logic-math-engineering thing. Of course, gmod, being a sandbox game, does not have to be played that way. As I said, it covers more or less all your bases, but from my experiance building is the only thing that doesnt get boring after a while. It cant really be exhausted in possability

I use Garry's Mod mostly for making videos, I sometimes fuck around with toybox just for the shits and giggles, it's probably my favourite game.

It's very fun, there are many things you can do. RP- Deathrun- Deathmatch- Fretta (bunch of gamemodes in one- Zombie Survival- Sandbox- Much more.
