Downloading Cache Files Casues GMOD To Stop Responding

I've been joining servers recently and whenever there is a cache file to download it causes GMOD to crash. No error messages and it doesn't crash. The file seems to be the same every time I download. It has random letters and numbers and is about 30 characters long. Once it is finished downloading garrysmod refuses to respond.
