O.K I bought gmod yesterday. Everythings fine but mostly everything is black or shaded black. So for example. The 357, toolgun, jeep is black. whats weird is that the jalopy isnt black but darker. But the jeep and airboat are just black. I was just thinking I needed HL2. I'll post pics if I can but should I buy HL2?
I had gmod without HL2, it worked fine.
If it was missing textures it'd purple and black checkers
Its not purple and black so thats whats weird... I dont know if this helps but all hl2 charcters have shades of black on their bodys.

Maybe you have outdated graphics drivers?
Have you tried updating your graphics drivers?
If that doesn't work I suggest you just try to lower the graphics settings in gmod.

I think this started around the TF2 halloween update, from what I gather it also occurs on Counter Strike Source and Day of Defeat source.
Just right click on Gmod in the steam menu, go to properties and launch options and type [b]-dxlevel 81[/b]
It happens to me even though my video drivers are up to date, so, I dunno, blame Valve.

If you think thats bad, try running it on an ATI Radeon Xpress 200 series. My god it sucks. Anyway, get better graphics, this happens to me too, its just your graphics. You could try to put -dxlevel 80 in the startup commands for gmod...
