• Traitor Tester Breaking opinions TTT

So this is probably a thing that people will have split opinions on so I wanted to hear what others think about it What you think of players that break the testers? do you kill them? is it rdm in your opinion if you kill person that destroyed one or is it a legit excuse for a kill? I hear people have lots of arguments like testers make it easier or destroy the depth. I personally believe that sabotaging the testers as a traitor is part of the game just like trying to get proven and surviving when your an innocent. but
its traitor baiting like shooting at someone but not hitting them
On our server, we allow people to break traitor testers without being hurt, although most players don't read the rules so you need to make it very clear that they can't and give plenty of warnings. The reason for this is because it's an extremely cheap way of getting proven that takes absolutely no effort on the user's part. You could play the game properly and find out who the traitor is, or you can stand around in a queue waiting to be tested. Like, in my opinion, traitor testers are fucking dumb, although some maps are kinda creative with them, which can be pretty neat
On the TTT server I was an admin on, you could only be killed if you broke the tester. Testers are stupid, ruins the fun of the game and makes it easy to go on a rampage as a traitor when everyone's crowded around the same spot. You were also allowed to refuse to be tested without getting killed on that server, though people would be suspicious of you.
My server allows people to be killed only if they broke the tester (same as Blayzd's post) which usually results in people hitting the tester 9 times instead of 10. Then that other person comes along and hits it once which gets them killed.
Like, in my opinion, traitor testers are fucking dumb, although some maps are kinda creative with them, which can be pretty neat
The only traitor tester I find really creative is the one on ttt_waterworld. Testers you have to actually work to unlock aren't too bad either. Like, find a couple of components, not just a gold block, like on minecraft. Would be nice if a map had a traitor tester that required a sacrifice to unlock. On the server I used to play on, I was usually the guy who broke the tester. It was fun to stand in the opposite corner and see everyone explode ( this was, I think, 67thway v5 )
Yea but testers existing provides more counter play and allows you to create better traps. It makes it more of a mind game which is what makes ttt so unique. Destroying a tester is not hard. Placing a c4 near it or taking it while no one is looking is far more challenging then just group mobbing it. The gamemode itself shouldnt favor sides it should provide the game challenging for each party. Thats partly why I hate custom TTT weapons like 1 shot sniper rifles or high explosives other than c4.
On my server breaking them and denying them are only suspicious, they are there as an option to prove yourself.
On my server breaking them and denying them are only suspicious, they are there as an option to prove yourself.
Do you get 10 year olds screaming 'test or die'?
Do you get 10 year olds screaming 'test or die'?
Yes which helps me find who the 10 year olds are and ban them. It's a win win for me. That's or we just tell them it's against the rules.
Why would a innocent person break a T Tester? Even if its a dumb idea in the first place you can remove the "testing" entities with lua or entspy.
breaking a tester only helps traitors so imo it is a traitorous act that is the rule on my server most people seem to break it when no one is around so it cant be proven anyway a lot better testers in maps than the basic one on 67thway nowadays though if you feel it makes the game 'easier'
I do the next best thing, I've broken them directly in the gamemode so they can't be used :v: "Test or die" is the stupidest gameplay ever, and it makes for a very boring game of TTT.
test or die is just straight up rdm. You cant tell people what to do if you state that as rule then there would be no problems, Also on my server hardly anyone uses testers because its so hard to get tested. On most maps like 67 way you gotta go through trapped areas. Also traitors on my server have brain they will sabotage the testers easily or rampage the testers. Jihad is extremely useful for crowds. Ofc thats if you have it on server.
The only traitor tester I find really creative is the one on ttt_waterworld.
So many RDM reports on that map because people didn't know that the slide was the tester. I would camp the bottom of the slide with a sniper, because it's a pretty straight end
My servers rules used to say breaking the traitor tester is a kill on sight offence. But then innocents would often destroy the tester on 67th way then complain about RDM. So I changed the rule so say it's high suspicion only haven't had any complaints about it lately. It's also hard to prove that the person did destroy the tester because they often denied destroying it even if multiple witnesses saw the person break it.... I also have a rule against forcefully asking people to get tested. But at the the end of the day it comes down to logic I mean destroying a device that is used to prove the innocents of players is a traitorous act so tough shit if you brake it and an innocent decides to kill you. But the mass amount of RDM reports this logic generates is not worth it so I would suggest making it high suspicion only. Also I hate the traitor tester on water world, people exploit it by placing objects on it causing the script to think it's invalid causing the tester script to loop the buzzer sound same with if a body rag-dolls in the right spot.
Well, on my server you can break it as long as the detective hasn't said "Breaking tester is kos" or just "Don't break the tester" or anything along those lines. It also gives the detective some more fake authority to make them feel better.
Testers are only limited to certain maps, and it takes quite a bit of efforts to list everyone up, vouch for when people ask if someone's tested or not, and calling out the odd ones out to everyone else at the end.. Not to mention that testing almost always costs innocent lives, the fools.. Also, the traitors are at a considerable advantage anyway. Body armors, knowledge about Un-ID'd bodies, 1-hit-knives&snipers, C4's, even revives, etc.. Plus, like I said, it takes some pretty determined Innocents to use the tester without somehow dying in the process and/or knowing who else are tested. So needless to say it smells like traitor around here, like our dear NiandraLanes. Also plenty of times I've seen the tester sit idle for the entire round without ever being tampered with. :v:
