Money saving and trustworthy Dedicated Server hosting?

Hey guys,
So my friend wants to start a fun server to mess around on and play with some IRL mates. He wants a dedicated server, which provides access to a windows desktop. This is so that he can do some private work alongside of the hosted server.
Due to reasons I'd rather now say, the budget on this isn't very high, so around £20-£30 a month.
Can anyone suggest a good company that can provide him with his needs? (A link would be useful)
Thanks.
OVH's VPS' might suit you well, their cloud range runs on Windows and should run a game server for a few people relatively easy.

if he has a good connection he could always host one on a spare computer in his home for free
http://www.kimsufi.com/uk/ I've heard from people that it's fine though that their support sucks and that they are sometimes slow at setting up the vps
http://www.soyoustart.com// its OVH's mid range. Good for around 4 gaming boxes at the price you're speculating

more than likely you would save money renting from someone - electricity, bandwidth, heat, etc.
not to mention a proper server is loud as fuck

it actually depends on if you already have the hardware, how many servers/slots you plan to fill and electricity costs in your area. as for a "proper" server being loud, it depends on what server you own. I have quite a few 1u's that are more quiet than my desktop.

Then you don't know what a data canter is where proper servers are. You can barely here yourself talk they're that loud.

I do know what a data center is, thanks. I've visited quite a few. You do realize you can buy "proper" servers for yourself, right? they don't have to be in a data canter. Stop being such an asshole that thinks you know everything. Of course having hundreds of servers together is going to be loud. Having one server at home, it wouldn't be very loud. even having a 2u server wouldn't be loud depending on which you get. Perhaps you should head over to the hardware and software forum and check out the post your servers thread. you'll find that some of us do own quite a few servers that we run at home. it's not really that loud running them. Again, electricity costs depends on the server you buy, due to older and certain cpu architectures requiring more power such as the older L5420's. And it also depends on how much your energy costs in your area.

If I thought I knew everything would I really make a thread asking for help?
Having a server at home would cost a lot more than paying monthly for one, as suggested earlier in the thread. Not only are you going to pay for the 24/7 uptime, the electricty bill will go through the roof, and the heat would be ridiculous. If something goes wrong, we're not professional technicians and electritions to know what to fix. Now I'm not being a douchebag by saying this, but if my friend wanted to host a server from home, he would have said so and this thread wouldn't even be here.
I have good experience with Daemonservers.co.uk so far!

£150 is way out of the budget, and £90 a month is too :/

good luck getting anything worth the money from nfo for £20 - £30
Really good, and really cheap: http://pyrohosting.net/
Like when I say cheap it's the cheapest I've ever seen.
I'll put it this way. A company which hosts game servers isn't the sort of company my friend wants to be with. He wants a proper company that focus on dedicated servers, not game servers with dedi's being available on the side.
Go with a VPS. The $7 package on HostHatch will be able to cover an optimized high-slot SRCDS server along with FastDL mirror, website hosting and TS3/Mumble hosting without issues. If he wants to host multiple servers, the $15 package can cover around 3 SRCDS instances along with the rest.
Ok so my mate got paid and he brought the Cloud2 from OVH, as suggested above in this thread.
He has access to the 'Manager OVH' but can't find any details to connect to the actual desktop. He was expecting information to log in with http://puu.sh/byZ4P/2f30e6dd40.png
(Windows remote desktop). He tried contacting a technical advisor person but he had no domain to use with the ticket therefore he couldn't send a ticket...
Has he made a mistake and purchased the wrong thing? He wanted to get a server which he could connect to a windows desktop but not pay too much.

did he get windows installed onto it? obviously needed, so if so, did he receive an email stating the IP to connect to and the username and password? if not, gotta wait for the email.

Windows 2012 R2 Standard Edition is what he installed.. Is it wrong? If it is, is it possible to change or is it too late?
No IP Address has been given to connect to a remote desktop.
Not sure but (since I'm on So you Start and not OVH, however it's possibly identical) usually the IP is on the management page of the server you ordered, the login details and IP are sent to your friends email automatically on first time installations.
I don't think Windows Server would take an hour to install so if you have the option to reinstall the OS then do so and check if your friend gets the email correctly this time.
It's odd that I have never seen this issue on both So you Start and OVH before...
