Before Gmod 13 the game was pretty international as far as I remember.
At least it had a lot of english speaking servers (what I would call international).
But now the overwhelming majority of TTT servers are german only and the DarkRP servers
are mostly french only and isn't this sort of wrong? I can't go on french servers
[sp]and I don't want to go on german servers because dry humor etc[/sp] and this
community is supposed to be international after all, right? Not all split up and shut in.
I'm also using the old browser to exclude servers like this. I had it set on US servers
and it still showed me german servers for TTT, because apparently some german
communities get their servers from american hosts.
I have the feeling there should be something done about this influx
of national servers, but what's your opinion?
as far as it comes to french servers, I think that's because many french people doesn't know english very well, and it just makes it much easier for them to speak in their native language. I've never seen a german server but I don't really look around anyway, but german people generally know english quite well I think.
As an German TTT Server Owner myself, i advertise my Server with the [GER] Tag, because TTT is an mindgame.
i know quite a lot of people, who can't mindgame properly in english, which is imo crippeling.
Also i realised that despite the fact most germans can speak english somewhat properly, most of them don't want it and / or can't speak it properly.
I join foreign servers because it helps me learn other languages a bit easier.

That's good actually. This is also the way I learned english and it really helps.
It is related to this [I]issue [/I][URL="http://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/10/558754259852724734/"][B][U]here[/U][/B][/URL]. You only see servers that are near your GeoIP location; since I assume you live in Germany, you will pretty much [I]only[/I] see servers in germany and france...etc.
use the legacy browser with region filtering , however my friends join servers from all over the world so I use it to see all servers otherwise I just get mostly KR and some CN servers...
I live in Kiwi Land but I bought my dedicated server in Merica because it's cheaper than anywhere else. I can live with the 200 ping.
Some of the French servers look like fun but I feel a bit intimidated by them - some of them really don't like English at all. I've heard of cases of people being kicked / banned if not French (not because the language is out of place on the server but because of nationality). Even if I could speak French, I think I would probably feel unwelcome by default...
There are lots of nice French people of course, but there are plenty of kids that run anti-English servers and it's a risk as to which one might be OK to join.

Actually not to sound a dick but over my history with MMO gaming over the past 15 years I don't think I've found a single French player i've got along with.
Would be the only nationality I've not, odd I know.
