• Odd bit about Gmod community with trains

So its been basically socially chosen that 80 unites is the "Standard" guage for rails in gmod In source engine 1 unit == one inch and this is reflected by the players dimensions, 6 feet high by a foot and ~a half. However the dimensions of the rails are 33% bigger, almost brunel gauge. It makes train building a bit tough. Anyone else find it odd? I cant complain though, it makes trains look bigger.
I'm pretty sure this originates from Valve using weird scaling in different parts of Half-Life 2. I don't have a source for that, though.
Yeah it could be that.

I was so pissed I made a giant display in the corner of flatgrass to show how ridiculous it was. As far as I could tell it goes like this: HL2 (non episode) trains are gigantic colossal beasts and the largest. HL2:Episode 2 trains (not the ones from C:SS in there) are slightly smaller if not the same size as HL2 trains. TF2 trains are somewhat reasonable (except for that semi-miniature steam train prop) size and are smaller than Episode 2's trains. L4D's trains are about the same size as TF2's trains and are probably the most accurate. CS:S trains are goddamn midget trains and the smallest.

This stuff is weird [editline]26th November 2015[/editline] Holy crap those are small trains.
