• Kick from my server when I type this. What is going on?

Dear Facepunch users, So I have my own DarkRP server and every time someone types "/advert raid" it kicks them. And I tested this and it actually does kick you, but it displays this 'April Fools' message when you get kicked. If anyone knows what this is for or why its there, please tell my why. Its really frustrating. Kind Regards ~ CitadelNetwork

HAHA its the new Darkrp update
I got the same problem xd
its happening, the rise of logical thinking has struck the creators of darkrp. They finally will standup to this crazy addon war and bizarre rules!! Finally!!!
check my thread
In your darkrp modification config (or core gamemode/config/config.lua) Find GM.Config.AprilFools and make it false
Encouraging sensible rules is now an April Fool's joke. Damn that's funny.
I like this update honestly.
I just heard that it was an April Fools joke. Nice one haha :goodjob:
you've been pranked:godzing:
I wish Falco wouldn't remove it.
Actually not a bad idea. I remember when that rule was first starting to pop up and the server I played on adopted it and I was completely fucking mystified as to why. At the very least just make it broadcast to admin chat, not goddamn advert whose purpose gets perverted because of this. The current way is where when someone adverts raid all I think is "shit, time to check my door!"
This message is completely true though
I changed the DarkRP MOTD (which is fetched with HTTP, so every server sees it)
April 6th 2016 Ayyy April fools was good. I had a good laugh. I hope you did too. Probably not, haha! I'm fucking serious about the bullshit rules though. RDM, NLR, Advertising raid and FearRP are all, in increasing order, god damn bullshit. Try running your shitty server without them. It will make your server less shitty. Replace advertising raid with the demand that people who get raided should call the cops. Replace NLR with not NLR. Just stop giving a shit when someone kills their killer. Replace RDM with MassDM. Start getting an admin involved when someone's mass killing everyone. And last but not least, FearRP. I don't know what cunt made that bullshit up. It's by far the most retarded rule. Get rid of it altogether. When a mugger walks up to a player and says "Mug, drop x or die", and the player runs away, have the mugger shoot the fucker. When the mugger calls an admin for "FearRP", just kick or ban the mugger for being a dumb, admin addicted cunt. Also, people who say "Admin to me" in OOC chat without saying anything about a situation kicked, or at least yelled at very loudly. Fuck those people. More rant: Stop putting people on roofs to interrogate them you god damn incompetent shit admins. Seriously, what use does a "roof session" ever have? Everyone /always/ lies. You don't get ANY information by interrogating people, ever. When someone reports a player for some rule they're breaking (and for fuck's sake, not the ones mentioned above), just start spectating the cunts and see if they do it again. If they do, ban the fuckers. If they don't, let the offense slip. Accept that shit may have happened once, but you didn't see it. Repeat offenders should not be on the server. People making one mistake should not be punished too harshly anyway.
I want this discussion to continue after the joke. It's important.
stuff
You do realize that over 80% of all players of your gamemode did not even finish school yet, right? So stuff like telling people how to improve their servers won't change shit. If you want a difference on servers, you gotta change the gamemode to make people change their rules.

Back in the day "advert for hits" was a real problem. I helped that situation a lot by making a hitman menu in DarkRP. Sadly the same doesn't apply to "advert for raids". A raid menu would just be the same as an advert. At least with hits there's an interaction going on (the payment). Mentioning that you're starting a raid, whether by /advert or some button in a menu, is and will remain to be a chore that raiders shouldn't be forced to do. Same with FearRP. What reasonable thing can I do?
Same with FearRP. What reasonable thing can I do?
Make whoever says "fearrp" lose a couple grands of their precious money. Probably a percentage cut based on their current amount, maybe ~80% or 90? If that's possible without too much server stress ofc.
the funniest thing is you own a darkrp server
I think you should just stop updating DarkRP because it's aids and it needs to die.
DarkRP is cool. It's just the community and all of the scriptfodder infested servers that makes that server garbage. There are good darkrp servers, just very few.

Yep, unfortunately, the real way to solve the problems would be systems that discourage the sort of admin-fetishization that has been going on for quite awhile, allowing admins to sort of fade away and be unnoticed, only being required for stopping say, hackers, because that much power and involvement has bad effects. That would probably mitigate the whole /advert raid, fearrp and other shit. But admins and server owners like the current state of things, so they probably won't even care about anything proposed.
in other words, FPtje kicked your ass. thats why

Hell, part of me can understand the basic logic behind why THAT was introduced (to give admins an indictator that someone was robbing some poor fuck and make sifting through DM reports easier, not to announce it to the whole server) but why it became necessary to advertise everything else, from bank robberies (which already get announced automatically) to fucking carjacking (like seriously, there's not even killing involved there) is moronic. As for dealing with people who go on mass killing sprees, could it be feasible to introduce some kind of automated news bulletin that highlights people who do that kind of crap and give people an incentive to try putting them down without involving an admin? Like if someone starts acting like a fuckbody murdering half the server a bounty can be put on their head to give people an incentive to put them down. And FearRP? Simple - you run from someone holding you up at gunpoint, you deserve to get shot. No need for any admin involvement.

"Admin, this guy wont give me his money, I was mugging him and he wont give me money"... fucking... you have a gun god damn fucking use it.

Only found one server where you didn't have to advert raid and mug.. that was ZARP, they used /me for mugs e.g. /me is mugging you drop X or die! makes more sense right? everyone doesn't get fucking alerted that you are mugging someone and also you had to do it in a secluded spot. (but then again this just puts more rules and shit may aswell take away mugging since mugging people gets you no cash at all except 1 interaction that will make your relationship with the other bad.)

Seriously is a stupid rule, mind I despise 99% of DarkRP rules (yes, im a hypocrite).
Look, honestly most servers use /advert raid, /advert mug etc for logging purposes, so when the victim inevitably calls for an admin as a last ditch attempt to get their money back, the staff member will use it as proof to say "yeah, this guy raided you with this, this and this guy. You got rekt, serves you right". The only way to really change this is to warn, kick and eventually ban people for false callouts, making players actually think about what they are calling an admin to. Additional features to DarkRP such as a "raid menu" or a "mug menu" will only do more to harm any potential RP experience and its at this point in my post that I realized this is DarkRP we are talking about, there is no potential RP experience.
