I noticed that Garry's Mod added a Search Bar for subscriptions, which I had been hoping for forever, and it got me thinking about how they are still adding to the game. I had an idea that would help smaller servers grow, and help players get into games faster. Basically, it is a quick join button. You put in some parameters (Gamemode, Has players, ect.) and then click Join, and then you get put in a random game. Now that I have become a DarkRP developer, I now see how hard it is for small servers that have recently opened to get players when you have the huge, super popular servers that dominate the top of the server listing. It would make it easier for those small servers to get players if people didn't have to play "Which title is the flashiest" before logging into a game. I just thought it would be a good idea.

Made a pretty bad reply and linked a site that didn't relate to the thread, sorry to anyone who didn't appreciate it.

Sadly this idea won't work, as there is no good way for the game to select which server to join? Should it be a server that has mods you are already subscribed to? Should it be one where there are already players, or a server that isn't played much? etc. etc.
The problem is, no matter which way you do it, it will make a lot of people complain. No one will use the feature if it plonks them on a server that's empty, but if your intention is for it to bring to light servers that are new, then your goal will never be reached.
If it selects servers which have the most subscribed mods in common with the client, then everyone falls into a comfort zone of sorts, and no one will experience any servers that are unique, as no one will have any mods in common, especially with custom mods on servers.
This system would only work if it selected servers that are already played by others, and that not only defeats your optimistic goal, but goes actively against it. If the system picks servers that have more players, then the system itself is obselete as the server browser already orders them by how many players they have.
This system would also provide more incentive for server owners to spoof their player counts also. It would incentivise "waiting room" servers, etc.
TLDR: There can be no "Feeling lucky" button in Garry's Mod, it simply wouldn't work.
Eh, it depends. If you're just selecting a random server that fits a few parameters (has players, on map gm_flatgrass, ping < 100) it wouldn't be too bad.
