• Introducing Halo: Gmod Edition. [Team Death Match]

We are a small and humble community looking to bring entertainment to all. [U][B][I]What is Halo: Gmod Edition?[/I][/B][/U] With Halo 1 and 2 being the only Halo games on the PC for the US. Also mention the new "Halo: Online" being available to Russia. (Excluding the modded version). My goal of this gamemode is to bring a hybrid of Halo 3 and Halo 4 Gameplay with Halo 5 Effects and Visuals for the PC. On top of that, we want to add some twists for even more fun and excitement for the player! It is called Halo: Gmod Edition, because I plan on in the every near future to have a lot of Halo Game types, including but not limited to: Halo CTF, Halo Domination, Halo FFA, Halo Swat, and much more! [B][I][U]Current Features:[/U][/I][/B] As the Gamemode was JUST made to a playable state, there is a lot to be added, but here are some of the things you will see in our current Halo: Gmod Edition gamemode: Team Death Match. - No this is NOT a DarkRP reskin, this is a completely custom gamemode from scratch. - Halo 5 Multiplayer beta inspired HUD. Including: Radar, Kill feed, Custom Shield sounds and effects, and more! - Balanced Team selection. Maximum imbalance of 1 player (Excluding disconnecting players). - 8 versus 8 gameplay. - 2 Teams, Red versus Blue. (With team switch, F2 or escape > switch teams to bring up the team selection menu.) - Optional Spectate mode if you don't feel like fighting. - 7 custom playable weapons (Assault Rifle, Magnum, DMR, Battle Rifle, Sniper Rifle, Saw, Shotgun). (Using Pillars models and animations) Custom Weapon base, with custom crosshairs and other changes. - Weapon platforms that provide a competitive balance between experienced players, and brand new players. Weapon platforms are scattered across every map with a variety of weapons that all have a cool down when you pick them up, and at the end of the cool down period you may proceed to pick it up again. (Replaces current weapon) - 16 playable maps. All Halo or Sci-fi related. - Custom "Kill cam". Show the player that killed you and the weapon they killed you with. Also a fun little color effect, everything is black and white on the kill cam except the color of the player that killed you! - Halo 5 Style Scoreboard (Very Fancy) ;) - A custom grenade system, the amount of grenades is displayed on the top left of your HUD, and can be thrown by pressing "g". - Custom weapon selection system. You start with 2 weapons (Assault rifle and magnum) Weapon platforms replace currently held weapon, and Pointshop weapons replace Assault rifle first, then magnum. (Maximum of 2 weapons). You can use "Q" on your keyboard to switch between weapons. - Smart spawning. Reduced spawn kill! Thats right, a custom spawning system that checks for enemies within 700 gmod units, and picks a spawn clear of your foes! - 50 kills to win gameplay, with automatic vote map. - A CoD styled Scavenger! When you die (or kill someone) you drop your current weapon, and instead of being able to pick up that weapon, you walk over it to gain ammunition to use on other players! - A worldview Effect that displays a small shield damage on the players you shoot, and when you fully deplete the shield is make a very noticeable effect on the player so you can detect when you have taken down the enemies shield. - Halo 5 styled Hit markers and Kill Marker. This also includes Ally death markers in World and Minimap - And much more! (AKA: I cant think of anymore.) [B][I][U]Future Features:[/U][/I][/B] - As mentioned previously, a variety of different game types will be made in the near future including: Halo CTF, Halo Domination, Halo King of the hill, Halo FFA, as well as a Special 25 vs 25 battlefield stype Team death match. - Much more weaponry (want to customize them first, not giving you shitty Pillar weapons). Including almost all Weapons from Halo 3 and Halo 4. - Better Grenade physics. - A CSGO styled gun skin system! Thats right, somewhere in the future we will have a very fun CSGO styled gun skin system. Allowing players to open lockboxes, trade, buy skins from each other! (More info later!) - Custom maps. Once this gamemode takes off, I will be investing in some custom made Halo maps, as the current ones are very poor quality! - A ranking system similar to Halo that will bring new armor and other features from ranking up. [B][I][U]Known Bugs:[/U][/I][/B] - Lack of a way to gain more grenades. (Excluding death) - A VERY rare bug that you can pick up 3 weapons, this has only been reported once, and has not been duplicated since. - A few map bugs (Ways to get out of maps, and very strange built in map entities that need to be removed). - No fall damage, so this means on a few maps you can fall all the way down and not die. Working currently on some Halo realistic fall damage. - Probably more, just not known yet! On top of this, it is HEAVILY customized to work as a loadout system, as well as a bodygroup buying system.) - Chessnut's Clear Escape Menu ( Eh, It was fancy. And Im a hipster, why not have a custom escape menu right? ) - CGNick's Slick Vote Menu ( CGNick is the main LUA developer for this gamemode, he just so happen to not want to make me a new votemap, since he already had one on SF. Not sure if this really can be considered from SF since my dev coded it? Oh well, list it anyway.) - [E-G] ibot3's Top Player List ( This was a neat little addon that uses php (No idea how 2 php) that tracks Kills and Deaths, also allows player of the week. Its fun and entertaining, so why not?) - Vrondickas Donation System ( No idea how to make a good donation system, so I tried this one out. It works ok, and the name Typo was not a typo, the creator is a complete dick and offers terrible support. The gamemode looks and feels pretty nice, but I would recommend you run the server at a higher tickrate for a PVP gamemode, so that movement and hit registration feels more accurate.

I was troubleshooting so I knocked the tickrate down to 33, I dont think that was the problem. Ill be sure to bump it back up to 66. i know a guy who worked on a pointshop weapon camo system that works fairly well. I also have all the sound assets from Halo: Online available, which includes most of the Halo 3 sounds and even sounds from previous games, let me know if you need any of them
I played a little bit, here's some feedback. Grenades need more range/damage. There needs to be a damage indicator Melee is horrible. It has no feedback and can take three hits to kill a damaged person. Also there is no one hit insta kills on backs. Scoped weapons have no melee from what I can see. Other than those small issues the gamemode is pretty great so far.

Other than those small issues the gamemode is pretty great so far.[/QUOTE] Grenade physics are a bit off (we are fixing it ASAP!), and we are currently trying to get the damage and radius as close to Halo as possible. There really is no need for a damage indicator, that is not friendly to Halo, nor do I find it necessary. There is a indicator when you take down an enemies shield, and when you are damaging shields instead of health. I think that's indicator enough. The melee is actually realistic to all the Halo Games, except for of course, as you pointed out, melee from behind is not 1 shot kill. I have not figured out how I can accomplish this, but I will definitely put it onto the to do list! As mentioned Im using all of Pillars Animations, Models, Textures ect... There is simply no animations made for gmod that include melee for the weaponry that has been released. I am not an animator nor modeler. Im afraid until I get funds to pay someone, this feature will not be added. I thank you for the great feedback! Played this gamemode with two guys on the server around two days ago, can vouch that this is really fun. If i had to nit pick I'd say some weapons are quite over powered in contrast to others, but there's a nice radar system and some cool 3D2D Text.

No idea how hard it will be to implement that, but I definitely look into it for a future update! :)

if you want to do one shots to the back you can make it where in the scale damage hook it checks to see where the damage came from and then just get the person who is being attacked eye angles.
I'm on it rn and I'm the only one on. I thought this'd be pretty popular, it seems very well made.
I got the chance to play yesterday, I had a blast. The weapons are pretty stable, which is awesome. I noticed a bit of animation "jitter", but I was getting easily above 160FPS (Whereas my gamemode gives me 60-80) so optimization is good. I found myself confused as to where shots where coming from. Trails/Sound/Whiz effects perhaps?
