So, my next course of action was to download an existing, established gamemode and see what they're doing differently than I am. I went and downloaded [url=http://www.pixeltailgames.com/elevator/instructions.php]Elevator: Source[/url], and installed it via the instructions provided. Boot up Garrysmod again, and...

EDIT: Okay, I figured it out. Turns out there's a garrysmod folder in both \common and \<steam username>. Don't use the one in \common. Whoops.
