Again, the Combines messed up with their science. Uncontrollable forces escaped from the Combine labs. Now, everywhere near the citadel, Portal Tornadoes are appearing and destroying everything that comes in their way.
This addon inserts a Portal Tornado SENT to your Entity list.
You can either run away from the tornado or have fun with the destructive forces of this powerful tornado.
It moves in random directions and slightly changes its direction while moving. Every physics prop, that comes in the range of the tornado, will be applied with forces and twirled through the air.

Unfortunately this version is not able to remove fixed constraints. But with the Sleep'n'Wake STool destructable sceneries/buildings are possible (as seen in the video above).
You can modify it with these console commands:
trn_movespeed X - The move speed of the tornado (Default 5)
trn_rotatespeed X - The rotation speed of the tornado (Default 7)
trn_move - Enable/Disable the movement of the tornado (Default 1)
(Advanced users can change other values in the init.lua of trn_main)
*Requirements:
None.
*How to add:
Put the 'PortalTornado1' folder to '...\Steam\steamapps\YOURNAME\garrysmod\garrysmod\addons'.
*How to spawn ingame:

DO NOT REUPLOAD IT ON ANYWHERE WITHOUT MY PERMISSION!

Looks interesting. I was expecting something bigger but... I'll give it a try.
Alright I tested it. It was OK but I do not see any use for this.
This looks good! It would be better if you used a more snazzy effect and made it bigger. Other than that, I like it!
If you fix up the effect, then :3:
Also, you could make so after a period of time, it would explode, sending props in all directions.

It's supposed to be for fun. I haven't seen anybody else try this
Good Job.
I might try this l8ter.
I would recomend using a biger model or making more than one small mediun and large. The biger the stronger it is.
This addon wasn't supposed to be released first, but because of the requests from some people I uploaded it. I will make an improved version sometime.
It is so small because the model is small. There is no HL2 model that fits better to a tornado than this 'Special effects' prop. Scaling the model with LUA resulted in graphic bugs like disappearing when looking from some angles.
I didn't want to create a tornado with sprite effects because the tornado would have required stronger computers then. If someone makes a tornado model with animated materials for me, I could create a new tornado.
Are there not some good EP2 effects you could use? Like the ones in the particle controller stool or the Aurora gun.

Make sure you update the render bounds to allow for the new size.
Would be cool if the tornado sucks props in, and then shoots them back out at random times
Wow, this has LOTS of room for inprovment and could definatly be a great mod, if you put in like Sounds better materials effects ect it would be amazing (like it vanishes and drops all the props only to re-appear some place else a few mins later). Also it would be nice if it un-did (And you could change that option with console commands or a menu for it) welds so you wouldn't NEED to use the Sleep and wake stool that you created. Also if it was possible it would be nice if this was console executed rather then being a sent.
Another thing, you should try and make it "pick up" players and throw them around (thats if i doesnt already i just read that it didn't from a comment, just about to try it out now)

Not everyone has EP2.
Make sure you update the render bounds to allow for the new size.
How do I do this? I haven't found a function for this yet.
this has LOTS of room for inprovment
As I said, it wasn't supposed to be released. I made it to get used with LUA.
Also if it was possible it would be nice if this was console executed rather then being a sent.
Why? In my opinion, a SENT is more comfortable. You can spawn the Tornado with the console, too (ent_create trn_main).
Things that have been suggested and may come with the next versions:
- Realistic effects (particles)
- Different model sizes
- Removing of constraints/unfreezing
- Realistic acting (dis-/reappearing, different magnitudes, low start and low end, weather)
- Sounds
Does this affect frozen props?
I had an idea regarding a chamber with this in the center.

No, but you can use sleep. It has the same effect as freeze and breaks as soon as any force is applied to it.
ent:Wake() the frozens.
ent:Wake() the frozens.
Wrong. objEnt:PhysWake() or objEnt:GetPhysicsObject():Wake() awakes the frozen props.
I was using this and having alot of fun with it but the only downer seemed to be that the props either flew 100 ft in the air and looked like it was bouncing on a trampoline or looked like it was being dragged along by ropes, so hopefuly in the later version(s) you can make it more violent (As in can lift heavier props and keep them in a steady rythem kinda orbit or w/e and maybe at random intervals throw them in a random direction) and more stable at differnt points in time.
Oh and i noticed it didn't pick up SENTS or Vehicles (Bouncy balls jeeps ect.) If it is possible to "pick up" SENTS then possibly in a later version you could implement that.
I've tried it, but it doesn't work on Gmod 13 (Or atleast mine)

Because it's 4 years old. Your steam name must say something.
