This seamless addition to your game will add a new search bar above your tool list in order to find tools you use often easily, and mark them as one of your favorites, just like the Wiremod's tool list.
It updates on each character you type, and once you're done, just click the red cross button to clear the search field.
Could be easily added to the vanilla game, to be honest. It's all clientside and about 200 lines long.
It was originally made for my own server but someone gave me the idea to release it freely, which isn't such a bad one seeing how stupidly complicated some of the other tool search addons are.

I think so too, what should I do as an indicator for a favorite tool instead?
Give it a light gold background on the menu?
I feel like a gold star is fine, you're only looking at the menu for a few seconds at a time, not a big deal.
Although the suggestion of making the background gold also sounds cool.

This, or the star, or an option toggle the star, the highlight, or turn off any indicator
