No, it's a lack of smartiness. Don't use simple DoF. Simple DoF is for gameplay or you're playing a gamemode or something. Use super DoF and don't forget to press render.

Where did you get the shopping cart model? I can't find a good one and can't find the L4D2 one.

So either do it manually or just turn the blur down really low and put the focal point somewhere between them?
Don't use simple, ever. There's literally not one reason to and it looks fucking awful.
