Thanks.
You overkilled the bloom, but the idea is good and otherwise it doesn't look too bad.
It's not really bad, but first improve your posing, composition and angles, then jump into photoshop.

Yea, I was worried I over did the bloom. Thanks for C&C.
Nice duplications.
The halo marines don't fit.
Even if you don't want them to be halo marines they are halo marines because everyone sees them that way.

Actually those are supposed to be halo marines, this is meant to take place in the halo universe. http://halo.wikia.com/wiki/Insurrection

:goonsay:
Before the Covenant attacked there were a shitload of brushfire wars going on throughout the colonies. I haven't really played Halo for a good six years and even I still remember that.
well slap me silly I didn't order the Halo Comic book.
Least you could do is write something that explains it. for people like me. and me.
Or you could go check yoself before you wreck yoself
Seriously, if you're going to have a pop at someone over choice of models or theme, go look it up first to make sure it's not you who's wrong.
hey how did you add the flame effects to the pelican?
hey how did you add the flame effects to the pelican?
I just quickly made those in photo-shop , with the paintbrush and smudge tool

Yes because I am totally going to look up every thread title in Facepunch to understand the pictures contents.
C&C: I think the blood is a little too sharp, it just sticks out from the rest of the picture too much, I'd suggest using maybe a more subtle blood decal or such. Also that explosion mark on the wall at the back doesn't exactly fit, I'm not saying its terrible, I'm just saying it looks kinda out of place.
Okay well feel free to continue having a go at people's work based on stupid assumptions because you're too fucking lazy to check your facts first, don't come crying to me when you get grilled for it yourself

You can't simply expect everyone has played Halo. I don't even know what the fuck a pelican is.
The point of most screenshots are to tell a story, this one tells a story for Halo fans, not for others. For the story to work, they have to wiki it, thus removing the whole point of the screenshot.
So if you haven't played Halo, don't just make asssumptions as to what this is about?
:psyboom:

Yes, but I don't expect someone as immature as you to understand.
Triggerhappy however posted a link to a wiki, but It would of been a little more smooth if posted a snippet of the main part or such. Otherwise the picture only serves to Halo fans.
Hahah, immature? From you? Oh, that's priceless.
SIMPLE FUCKING CONCEPT HERE: If you don't know about something, don't comment on it. If it only serves Halo fans, then go look at another thread without passing comment (or leave some technical crit). I'll give you a few minutes for that to sink in.

A pelican is the drop ship at the top of the screen.
To be honest, I've played Halo and only heard snippets about it. I had to read the wiki to understand what was going on, so I can kinda see where Bigboom went wrong.
Rossmum, you'll have to accept the fact that people who don't know something are going to make assumptions, it's only natural. Wether they are stupid assumptions or reasonable is to be seen.
They can make assumptions all they want, just don't post them and then act all surprised/offended when someone gets annoyed.
Not difficult.

I think the issue in this case is that Bigboom said that he would only see the marines as halo marines, without paying any attention to the rest of the overall scene, which shows other halo related stuff like the weapons and vehicles. The problem isn't that Bigboom made an assumption, the problem is that he made it based on only the characters and didn't even try to look twice at the scene and realize that it overall employs a halo related look. Even if he hasn't played Halo games, he still knows they're halo marines, and such should also pretty much recognize the jeep and weapon(s).
About the picture itself though, Some charcaters are floating here and there, the blur is a bit random at places and there's some anti-aliasing issues. Other than that, it's overall a quite pleasant picture.
Whenever someone makes a Mass Effect or Killzone screenshot, no one bitches that they don't know what is going on. I don't know why Halo is suddenly getting targeted over other games.

Yeah, it seems there is alot of critics when it comes to MW2 or WW2 style but the not so popular PC game poses don't get judged as much as sense of relativeness and scene setting. (Because not alot of people play them.)

It's the basic "government ruled earth that wants to unite every one but there's always that group of folks who want to be free" thing.
Other examples:
The Terminus System in Mass Effect
The Browncoats in Firefly
The Rebel Alliance in Star Wars
Yeah.
Anyways, I like the picture.
