Hey Facepunch, this is really the first major thing I've built that I've felt was worthy of these forums. It's an old truck with a small engine, so tell me what you think. The pictures + video do the talking, so I won't go into detail unless asked.

Tell me what you think!
No wheel wells, huge wheel arches and the bumpers are massive but otherwise I like it :v:

Yeah, i had trouble with the wheels, I finally just said "fuck it" and finished it as it is now. I may revisit it sometime, but I just wanted to say I made a truck.
Its kinda disproportionate, but I kinda like that about it. Its quite... cute I guess. Do like. Have an artistic
That's a nice truck.
It's nice and simple, something that this forum lacks nowadays.

Are you one of them folk who are displeased that most people don't build bathtub cars anymore?

I think it's more that most people build 300-prop phx things with shitloads of detail props that make more lag, take longer to build, and tend to RSO people.
I remember Gcombat tanks that looked good having as few as 30 props.

simple is fun. It's more fun for me to just make new things work than model.
I remember when the hottest thing on the forum was a metal plate with two wheels attached to it at just the right distance that you could use them to launch a rollermine about 30m. And then that got blown out of the water by someone who attached it to a wall in gm_construct with a gravity feeder above it. Good days :unsmith:
Challenge: find my old "crossbow" from v5/6. two tonnes of PURE LAUNCHING POWER
Drives smoothly, looks okay. I like
All you guys know wire mod and I don't, makes me want to learn it, considering all the cool stuff I could make.

wire really isn't that hard. E2 is a bit harder, but worth it. With E2, you can essentially do anything you want.
Mr White, would you mind going a bit more into depth about that rear axle? I know you don't like it, but I'm rather curious about its construction.

I guess I could, but don't laugh at me once you understand how it makes no sense to do it this way :v:
Basically, I took regular single wishbone independent suspension and added a rigid rope between the centers of the two wheels. At first I thought it would allow the wheels to move up and down at the same time with no problem, but the wishbones would try to bow out at the same time, but the connecting rope wouldn't get the wheels separate. I didn't catch this, and as such, the suspension is essentially locked as far as up down movement goes. All it can do is roll back and forth.
I understand now how to properly make this type of suspension, so yay.
NutsAndy's suspention is win and wish he would make a tutorial

learning experience. Suspension geometry is a strange thing.
Right now experimenting with multilink suspensions. HOpefully it isn't a colossal pile of fail.
I like the truck MrWhite, It looks like it drives really smoothly.
Is it using thrusters on the steering arm? if so have you considered using hydraulics?

Thanks :D - I'd love to do a tutorial but I find the hard bit is thinking of how to describe what is being done, I use 6 different advanced ball and socket settings throughout the making of a chassis plus I tend to over use precision alignment for rope, rope axle limiting and hydraulic placement which all make tutorial producing that little bit harder.
Anyone got a tutorial on making tutorials?
Anyone got a tutorial on making tutorials?
I'll get back to you. Am looking for a tutorial on how to make a tutorial on making tutorials.
I like it.

It might take a while for someone to make a tutorial about making a tutorial for making tutorial tutorials... but I think we're in luck as someone has recently finished a tutorial for them to work from.
Don't know why, but the way the truck drives reminds me of the truck level from good ol' Call of Duty.

As such, I am very much for this. Arts for you, sir!

I am, and I have, but these thrusters were cheap and quick and don't force the vehicle around like you'd think they would. I used to use hydraulics, but they became a pain since they took so long to do compared to thrusters, but like I said, I do need to revisit this sometime.
Thanks for the kind words everyone!
