The smoke, create a new layer, set the outer glow to grey and the size to at least 15, download a good brush by googling "photoshop brushes" usually those urls with "art" in it have great brushes for that stuff. I didn't really edit anything in my comics except the smoke and the dialog, everything else was taking with bloom, color mod, and depht of field.
