• World of Ted (Short, cinematic machinima)

I loosely use the term machinima when it comes to my creation, most people refer a machinima associated with Garry's Mod to something that's... Well, you know what I mean. Anyway, this project was never finished but might be in the future. Here was an animation test I did with it, using the Kinect: And this was completed a long time ago, it was my first thing to do with /Ted/ and was completely an experiment as most of it along with the 'lore' about Teds World was discarded and replaced with a much deeper plot: If you're wondering about the childish humour thrown in there every once and awhile, it's to show Teds world. It's very robotic in the sense that everything is controlled by a single man, who is controlled by several. Teds world is a dictatorship, one global power, one global military, and one global 'peace'. No one argues, no one resists, everyone is hard-wired at birth to listen and obey, and disobeying leads to the individual simply 'sleep walking' one night and somehow getting themselves killed. But of course, no one in Teds world ever resists, that word doesn't even exist. The man named Ted, was the first to wake up at 3 Am and get food out of the fridge. The first to kick the soda machine. The first to look up at the sky and think "I wonder if I'll ever go there". In-fact, Ted was the first to have a name. No one has a name, it's either 'boss', 'father', 'mother', 'employee 1', 'dog', 'stranger'. No one gave Ted a name, he gave himself it. Ted doesn't know who he is, the world he lives in, or why he actually thinks, there's something different about the one named Ted. Perhaps it is the fact that he is, a man named Ted, or maybe it's the fact that quit his job. No one has ever quit their job. What do you guys think?
I liked the first one, not a fan of the Stanley Parable parody to be honest. [editline]24th April 2013[/editline] Wait that was serious?
The 'second one' was a parody in most sense, but then after I decided to go ahead with the project I tried to make it more original, hence ditching the first voice actor. I actually had some guy do a half finished French version for the test which was pretty good, I can link it if you wan to view it. :P
I'm curious if 'Ted' lives in Chicago.
I dunno where Ted lives, I never got that deep into the lore of his world. Probs some 'Panthea' super continent or something. Or maybe Ted's world is a computer program, and he's the Trojan horse virus. (<Original plot xD) ;)
That's incredibly original, and I don't mean this in a derogatory way. In these five years I've worked with GMod, this might be the single most unique work I've seen. Someone will undoubtedly come along and say I just haven't been paying attention and shove something in my face, but hey, I do like what I see here. Great stuff, very artistic.

The narration of the first video was better (The writing that is), but the animation and tone was better in the second video. I think personally you lost me at the mention of cats taking over his world and so Ted's response was to grab the nearest weapon and fire wildly into the air. Seems... very bizarre, even in the context of Ted's apparently surreal world. Good hook at the end, with Ted's one day left to live, I'd be interested to see a full video for this, sure.
That was a mistake on the voice actors behalf. :s
The second video.. Thats the midi audio for that spacebound short film!
Pardon?
Also, did any of you close your eyes when the narrator told you to?
no no one does
:c
