The First, Monthly 'Psycho-Screenshot Competition' Judges Fort83 AFewOstriches Rules For the next week and one half (eleven days) you will be able to compete in this competition of posing prowess. Your job is to make a pose that represents the theme given to you. You are only allowed to submit one image as your bid to ascension; however you are allowed to submit more than one time, that is, you may update and change your submission. The image you submit must be created after the start date of this competition; you may not submit an image that you have made previously. You are allowed to make a submission in the form of a comic. The orignal of your image must be based in Garry's Mod. You may edit with third-party programs (in fact this is suggested), but it cannot be made with anything other than Garry's Mod (like don't even think about SFM). The Judges and I will not participate in the competition. Method In order to judge fairly, there will be several categories adding up to 30 points. The judges will combine the scores for the final challenge between the contestants. The three categories are: Creativity This is judged by the originality of your screenshot. Posing This is judged by how realistic or reasonable your pose it. Composition This is judged by how well your screenshot is arranged. Theme Rampage We are starting off easy. This theme requires of you to capture a rampage of any sort. It may be a bloody rampage, a sexual rampage, a gaming rampage, even a road rampage- it just needs to be a rampage! Please be creative and supportive of each other; this is a friendly competition. Due Date May 3 no later than 11:59 The first three placers will be announced a full day afterward (May 4). PRIZE Some of you were probably asking, "Why should I bother with this?" You should bother because at the end of this, I will present the victor a twenty dollar game (or any combination of games no greater than twenty dollars) off of steam. Second place will receive a ten dollar game (or, again, any combination of games no greater than ten dollars) off of steam. The third place user will receive an honorary mention and a guaranteed spot on the judging panel, should they desire. Good luck, fellows! Nifty Links The Steam Group is through that link, and the Facebook Page is on the other end of that link. Thank you for your support! Organizer's Requests [del]I do need two one volunteers to help me judge the competition.[/del] If anyone would like to make a banner (with easily changed text), thumbnail (for both Facebook and Steam's profile picture), and a cover photo (for Facebook), it would be greatly appreciated.
Oh fuck yes I am so in.
Looks awesome. Will definitely get in on this.
Thank you, Fort!
Aww yeah, sexual rampage. The real challenge is making it so I won't get banned for posting it.
I may try this.
There should be some criteria so that judges can make an accurate decision rather than 'that one's better lol'. Maybe creativity, posing, editing and composition? And give the submission a rating out of 40 (10 for each one?)

I'll check back tomorrow around 2:30 PTSD (PST), or UTC - 8 hours It automatically has +1 because Dwarf cannot rate himself, iirc. e. In case no one has realised, I do want this to be a sort of community driven thing so that people want to take part of it. Depending on how this one goes, I may set up a paypal so I can get donations toward prizes.
Hmm, something seems familiar about this... ;)
I shall have an entry up shortly!
Hmm, something seems familiar about this... ;)
do tell
Seems interesting, might try and come up with something.
My (former) submission: [t]http://i.imgur.com/AUSacog.jpg[/t] [del]If there's no third judge by this evening I'll [del]gladly[/del] begrudgingly withdraw my entry and help judge.[/del] I have withdrawn my entry and will instead serve as a judge. [sp]I'm gonna judge you motherfuckers so hard it'll hurt[/sp]
So I adopted this idea, however I left out editing. It is unfair to assume that someone must edit their screenshot.
Well sometimes no editing is better. Ingame lamps can produce some sexy lighting and shadows.
Thank you, AFewOstriches, for being our third judge!
So I adopted this idea, however I left out editing. It is unfair to assume that someone must edit their screenshot.
Well, post-process effects are sort of editing as well. Perhaps the phrase I'm looking for is 'atmospheric detail'
Still, some may not want to mess with post-processing at all. *Updated OP Added one clause to the Rules. "You are allowed to make a submission in the form of a comic."
Looks like the kind of contest I like (not an entry btw, old stuff there)
awesome
Hmm, something seems familiar about this... ;)
I will admit, you did inspire me. I couldn't help but notice the slight participation in yours, so I went ahead to figure out what would encourage more people to join. Sorry for the delay in admittance. Also I knew I'd never have the effort to win a contest, but I have the job to supply one. I know people love prizes, and I love screenshots. So here this is. Thanks, bud.

welp, better start making poses again
Would you all prefer to be scored on an average between judges, or a combination between judges. I don't know if it'd make a large difference either way, but I figure it's better to have the choice. Useful x 1 (Average Score) Optimistic x 1 (Combined Score)
Thank you for voting (optimistic)!
Submissions need to be in soon! You have three hours left!
I guess I'll make something.
Unfortunately the deadline for this iteration has passed. Currently I am waiting on a score set from a judge. But please, please, please participate in my next one! [editline]5th May 2013[/editline] At last we have our results! From Fort83 we have the following ratings and comments:
cheesecurls Creativity 7/10 - It's more of a less subtle scene with the rampage theme, I quite like it. Posing 6/10 - There isn't really much in regards to posing, nothing really out there but what is done with the posing works pretty well for the scene. Composition 8/10 - I like the colours, the way it's setup and just the overall positioning of everything in the shot.

Hunterdnrc Creativity 6/10 - From what I can tell it's based on Hotline and not a original concept. Posing 8/10 - There is a wide variety of poses in the panel, and from what I can see it's done pretty well. Composition 7/10 - It's a well put together and each image looks good setup wise.
Thank you Fort! From AFewOstriches we have the following ratings and comments:
cheesecurls Creativity - 7/10 - The concept is decent, so long as I understand it correctly, but I'm not sure it fits too well with the theme of 'rampage'. It's more thriller/horror than bloody rampage. It's not very clear what the guy behind the main character is doing. I think a bit of backstory provided with the pic would have been an excellent solution to this. Posing - 7/10 - There's nothing wrong with the posing, it just seems a bit stiff. Composition - 9/10 - This is where this entry shines. Excellent choice of color palate, good use of post processing, and solid angle and back drop really give this pic a sense of belonging to a larger world. There is some wasted space on the left and right that should have been cropped, however.

Hunterdnrc Creativity - 9/10 - The concept is fairly generic (guy busts into gang hideout to save the girl, wooooo) but hunter gets bonus points for the inclusion of a gif as an intro panel. What cheesecurls did with his scenebuilding, hunter does with this intro panel. It gives the pic a feeling of belonging to a larger world. Posing - 6/10 - Many of the hands in the comic are not fingerposed at all, and many of the men reacting to the hero's entry are stiff. I think taking a few more minutes to pose each ragdoll would have helped immensely, along with the fingerposing thing. Composition - 8/10 - I really like the layout of the comic. Its pacing and length are very well done; not too long, not too short. Angles are good, and I do enjoy the fact that most panels with the hero are tilted; I think it conveys a nice sense of the man being really mad, not seeing the world straight, etc. One complaint that did not affect his score: don't make the whole comic a gif just for one panel. Just use two separate pics.
Thank you AFewOstriches! From me are the following ratings and comments
cheesecurls Creativity 7/10 - I find it a peculiar setting with all the dark, the pigman, and the deathly looking character in the back. The colors are certainly something different from the cyan-orange that is common. However, the pile of dead does not strike me as one of a kind. Posing 8/10 - The posing is strong as far as I can tell. However I do find that the arms of the fellow in the back are too stiff, and the fingers of the pigman make him look to be holding the tool rather delicately which I do not find a reasonable assumption. Composition 8/10 - As stated earlier, I enjoy the color scheme of the screenshot. The dark feeling from that and the morbidity of the image complement well.

Hunterdnrc Creativity 7/10 - I enjoy the animated first image quite a deal. It is also not often we get to enjoy a good ol' headstomping which brings one back to Mario. However it does seem to be reflecting the recently popular Hotline Miami which does take away from its independence. Posing 7/10 - The posing is decent, and definitely strong in the scene first describing the headstomp. However in the last scene, the angle and the fingerposing on the pigman lend a weakness as well as the right hand of the victim. Composition 8/10 - Where one image allows us the result of a rampage, the collection of images allows us the very action of rampage. This submission gains strength from that for sure.
Average Scores cheesecurls - 22.3... Hunterdnrc - 22 First Place: cheesecurls Second Place: Hunterdnrc Third Place: N/A Honorable Mentions: N/A Gents, if you have not, please add me that you may receive your award.
