That's a crappy title, but I'm too lazy to think of something better. This is the first one I feel confident enough to post here. I feel it's pretty decent, although I may have overdone it a little on the postprocessing, and there's a lot of grey. (The map is gm_darkwoods. The water in it looks really neat.)
It looks pretty boring. Add something in the background to fill out the empty space, there's nothing dynamic going on. Also, crop out unnecessary borders. In my opinion,it really didn't deserve it's own thread. Here's where you post stuff that you don't want to make a thread for: http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1250275
I'm afraid I don't understand what you mean by 'dynamic.' If you mean theres nothing else happening, that's kind of what i intended by it. A sort of lonely feeling. I also did attempt to crop it, but it didn't feel right, so I left it the way it was.
There's a difference between lonely and nothing. You can see something, feel something be lonely. You can't see it be nothing. It's boring to experience nothing. The area to our right directly behind the hunter is far too empty. What forest have you been in that only has two trees? It would not hurt to add more. There is also too much water- this is my opinion. We do not need that much water to figure out that there are no other reflections than the hunter's. Your DoF seems focused in the wrong place. The hunter, which I imagine should be the focus of the image, is blurry. I guess my focus is on the reflection? But I don't want it there. A reflection is just a reflection- in water it's distorted, I don't want to look at that. I want to look at the solemn figure. Just some critiques.
"Be vewy vewy quiet, I'm hunting webels." Love the pose, but mabye pick a different map thats not that bright? Also, try a map with a little more "pazazz" so it doesn't look as empty. But you're slowly on your way :)
Nnnnnggh. I thought the title said froggy woods.
If I was to do this again, I guess I'd zoom up a little closer. And yeah, I just picked a random spot by the water. I actually didn't plan at all when I made this; I just loaded up the map to take a look around and went "whoa I should stick a hunter in here I bet that'd look cool." That's how a lot of my screenshots come about, to be honest. I'm afraid I don't know what DoF means or what I should use to modify that. I used a couple post-processing effects. Color modification, bloom (I think I probably overdid it a bit here), and something called Toy Town which made it sort of blurry. I've never really fiddled with the postprocessing before so I had no clue what I was doing.
I'm afraid I don't know what DoF means or what I should use to modify that.
Depth of Field. It blurs out the background of a picture to bring focus on something specific. There's an option in Gmod to do it, too.
Ah, thank you. Sometimes it's hard to tell with such things (I have no vision in one eye). I'll dig around and experiment with that setting a bit.
