Chesty here again using the shitty models from the bowls of Gmod 10 that no one else will.

I probably could have done a lot more with this one but I had begun to get bored. Compared to the original I think the work is quite substantial as it is.
C&C if you like.

Oh, and it's kinda empty on the left partly for desktop background purposes.
[editline]23:22[/editline]
There are no co-drivers because it's a trailblazer event.
Eat my dust. I first though "Why do Chesty post a picture from a rally game. Awesome work. Dust edit looks sweet. Cam angle is out of the "how to do it" text book.
I like it, could do with some motion blur though. I mean, not on the cars, on the picture itself.
Stop being awesome damnit!
Oh, so dirty, I love it.
Fucking awesome dirt/smoke edit and excellent job placing the foliage, angle for the picture is quite awesome too.
Gonna use this as wallpaper for sure.
(Tho the jagged lines on the front car's hood are a bit distracting but that's probably the model)
Edit;
Pretty cool editing on the front headlights too.
I didn't know anyone ported from DiRT.
Nice job with the dust.
:psyboom:
Gracias for all the comments guys!

I can't tell if this is supposed to be funny.
Looks really nice.
Usually i like the original to look good aswell but whatever.
Oh well. Impossible to make a good-looking driving picture in-game with Source because it completely lacks decent particle effects and we have no good car models.

In all seriousness....
In all seriousness....
Lol look at the original. What do you think DiRT is? A PSX game? :v:
I know that its a Colin McRae racing game. I just didn't know anyone ported shit from it.
Well... they didn't.
This is DiRT 2:

Somewhat better than the quality of the model in my picture, eh?
[editline]12:24AM[/editline]
Mainly because it isn't made of squares.
I am dissapointed that you didn't do more with this picture. It had a lot of potential for awesomeness.
Firstly, you could have done much more with the dust. Right now it really doesn't look very natural. The texture it creates is odd looking and there are a lot of weird angled lines of shading that go through it.
Next, you could have done a lot more with the atmosphere. Right now, the overall look of the image is rather dull and doesn't really "pop". DiRT was very bright. You could have upped the contrast and added a big white radial gradient coming from the top angle to give it more brightness. As I mentioned on steam, a lens flare would have been nice too.
You also could have done more texturing on the cars. The dirt near the bottom is there, but some added dust and grime would have helped them not look quite so low res. You could have done more with the shading as well, darkening up the left sides of the cars.
And as Zerax mentioned, motion blur would have helped.
However, I really like the texturing on the road. You did a great job with that.
Ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff-
I always appreciate the critique. I take the detail as the greatest of compliments.
suckup.
:what:
Here, check this out:

I whipped this up in 10 minutes using your edited version. All I did was up the contrast and brightness, fiddle with the color balance to add more yellow and brown, throw a big white gradient up at the top, add a little vignetting, and a little bloom.
This is easy stuff, no reason for you not to do it!
It's not that I choose not to do it because I'm lazy, but when you work with a picture like my original (seriously look at that shit - see how dull it is?) it's hard to look at the final product without comparing it.
What I mean is, when I look at the final I think "contrast looks nice enough... already bumped it up from the original loads" and am always too scared to go crazy with the sliders because overdoing it is often much more frowned upon than underdoing it.

That's perfectly understandable. You just have to try and go a little crazy sometimes. You never improve if you don't experiment.
suckup.
Btw, I would be giving that response to anybody who would take the time to actually look at the picture for more than five seconds and write "nice pic" or "needs moar of X".
See how much help as been given? That's not sucking up, it's called appreciated help.

Updated the picture a little bit based on criticism:

Very impressive work. You should do skins more.
Sweet. Now I'm gonna play DiRT 2
thanks chesty, you made me continue my dirt2 file
Ha! Aliasing! :cop: Fix that somehow and it's awesome.
Pretty awesome but thats what I expected when I entered this thread.
F*** you. You took my idea. ;)
But you did a better job than I'll ever do.
Thanks for all the comments guys. Bumping this to get it past all the shitstorms of flame wars and trolling that has been pouring into this forum of late.
