Sorry, I just don't think there's enough back story or evocative scenery here to have any emotional impact. The FPS slow-mo shots and the people killing each other really subtracted, CSS gameplay is typically more funny than anything.
EDIT:
Watching the second video, the COD series really deserves more credit for level design. Regardless of what you think of the player base and the gameplay, the maps are still pretty awesome.

When you make a parody, make sure it's funny. If that's what this was supposed to be I didn't feel any emotion of any sort, let alone laugh. If you were going for humor, make funny things happen, if you were going for serious, I don't think it's going to work honestly.

well it's more sarcastic than funny... in the way that I copy the exact same shots.
I've found many people who think it's fairly funny after watching the CoD video first.
Am I the only one not seeing how this COD video is anything but shit looking? Also don't get me wrong there but this video is entirely made in CSS right? This doesn't belong here, this section is part of the Garry's Mod Section, not Counter Strike.

the CoD video is more visually impressive. the map design is more visually interesting, less square and geometric in its design and less focused on exact symmetrical balancing. i don't care if the game is shit (which it is) and whether comparing it to a dated 2004 engine is completely pointless (which it is, despite the updates the engine has undergone), the game still looks better. it has atmosphere, something CSS lacks sorely.

both are more visually interesting.
portal 2 = portal with the lamp tool from gmod
do arma. that game is pretty. unless you can't play it on high with AA. then it's blurry.
