Dear Jennifer
I went to Kansas City. It was a long walk, but I needed to get my mind
off things. I found the house were we grew up, together. It's all gone
now, but the memories were still there. It's not the same without you.
I love you. I'll see you soon, it wont be too long now.
I like it, but I think it's too bright and colorful for an emotional scene. Not that that really detracts anything from it, good job.
What happen to Jennifer? Why is Jennifer stone? So many questions
I think you did a spot-on job on the kneeling pose. The background, however, is pretty generic. We seem to be getting a lot of the same FO3 + STALKER destroyed city scenebuilds in this section.
The angle and lighting aren't great. There should be a larger color gradient, especially in the shadows.
These are basically the key colors going on in your scene (picked them out from the image directly)

Using a combination of lights and lamps, you can create a much larger variety of color that would look something potentially more like this.

A variety of colors can make an image way more interesting. The best examples to look at are TheMask's work and Joazzz's work and just about every picture they do demonstrates excellent use of color.

I just added an algo to do that to an image upload website :

^ Looks like that. I tried it out on your pic.
Thanks for the color tips, I'll work on it. I do have trouble picking an angle sometimes. Any tips on that?

well, I WAS going for a post apocalyptic scene but I complete understand what you're saying. Are you talking about use of props or just the general idea that's generic?

the main thing is to make sure that everything you're seeing is in some way relevant. in this case you have the important details of the man and the gravestone, but the ruins in the background don't need to take up so much of the picture's real estate. instead you want to angle it so that the less important something is, the less space it occupies, which is why you can actually leave a shot mostly empty if you want to make the emptiness seem thematically important (see any Tarkovsky film or anything set in the void of deep space).
I enjoy the overall picture, but I have to say, your posing is spot on fantastic.
I'm more of a simplistic gmodder, and prefer images that put more time into their poses than their post processing.
The actual positioning of the ragdoll appears very realistic, and looks more like you did it entirely using Hammer or perhaps a different program. I will say that his right hand (viewers left side) is a bit awkward, but generally unnoticeable. In all, fantastic work.

Mostly prop selection. There's nothing wrong with using the FO3 and STALKER props, but at this point they're so common that you kind of have to disguise them behind different props, otherwise the viewer just goes 'oh it's some FO3 buildings bleh senn this a hundred times.'
I think it was Exorade who did a shot a few weeks back that was an adult and child standing on a street with some wolves about to attack them or something that really did an excellent job of doing just this. He masked the super low-res STALKER buildings with debris and foliage to prevent them from being too recognizable and thus too distracting.
