You don't need a big screen to make big pictures. You just have to change the size in the game options. I don't have a wide screen monitor, but I play gmod in wide screen by adjusting my monitor settings so it looks like I have a wide screen to me. That also allows me to shoot game footage in wide screen as well. The game footage I have looks a lot better on youtube in widescreen in my opinion.
