Link a beacon sensor to the target finder and make sure it outputs world coordinates. (Like x,y,z but not local, world, there's a setting for it.) Then link the hoverdrive to those coordinates. You could use a simple add chip or something to raise it on the z axis so it gets higher up. I just realised this wasn't the question. To make it actually target plays you have to make sure "Target players" is activated. And that you don't filter any names or anything. Also make sure its range is long enough. If you didn't change any settings it should color the player within range so you know if it works.
I'm trying to get a Hoverdrive to teleport to a player. But I cant get that wire target thing to sense them! Advice?
Spawn hoverdrive, beacon sensor, and a target finder. Make sure that "output X,Y,Z" or "output GPS" (forgot what it is) is checked. Right click the beacon sensor to the target finder to link them together. Make sure you have "find players" checked on the target finder. Use the wire tool to on the hoverdrive and link the X,Y, and Z to the beacon sensor. Use a wire button or numpad input and wire it to the hoverdrive's "activate" or "teleport" or whatever. This will make it teleport to the nearest player whenever you press the button. Check the "don't target the owner" box if you don't want it to teleport to you. Optional but highly recomended: Spawn an Add gate from the Control: Arithmetic list. Use a constant value of your choosing and Add the Z value of the beacon sensor. Now link the hoverdrive to the add gate. This will allow your hoverdrive to spawn higher than the base height of the beacon sensor. Adjust the constant value in the add gate to adjust what height of when the hoverdrive teleports. This should answer your question. Next time, look up "gmod hoverdrive tutorial" on youtube.
