Yes, I know I already posted another thread, but I give no fucks. I edited the original so heavily that I may as well post a new one. Don't like it? I don't care. click for full 1920x1080 Original Thought process for this picture: I need to practice my rimlighting -> hey, this looks kinda cool, maybe I can take it somewhere -> HOLY SHIT THIS LOOKS AMAZING AS A NIGHT PICTURE -> actually happy with my own work for once
The aa fire is kinda green, but it looks pretty good.
Yeah, green tracers are quite common. Red, orange, yellow, white, green, and blue are all pretty commonly-used tracer colours.
Tracers are a bit too blurred, searchlights on the other hand look great. How did you do the "night time" effect?
Reduced brightness, fucked about with contrast until it was about right, then hit up colour balance and shifted it fairly heavily towards blue.
Holy fuck that is awesome! I've tried a bit of night edits myself and I can never get them to look right. You did. :tiphat:
Which is ironic, since I finally forced myself to not half-arse the lighting (i.e. use your method rather than just go spastic with dodge/burn) for this one :downs:
The difference between the original picture and the edited one is really awesome. The edited one looks like the map always was at night. In general the lighting is pretty good. Oh yeah and the posing looks pretty good. I just don't like one thing: I don't really like the fire and there could be more light from the fire on the soldiers/tank.
It's awesome. Finally some decent WWII picture goodness :) Love the rim lighting on the tanks, very well done.
The fire is pretty blurry... looks quite odd. The rest is nice though. Good lighting and atmosphere. Looks like the trail from the crashing aircraft hasn't been blurred to match the DoF though.
That blur is heat haze, brosephine. That's also why the fence, the corpse, the tree and even one of the Messerschmitts are all wonky. You're right about the burning Lanc though. I did initially blur it to match the DoF, but it made it look less like fire and more like a big orange shitstreak. It does look kind of bizarre, but at least it's obvious it's a fire.
Good solid editing. Atmosphere is nice.
Very nice. Very, VERY nice, ross.
it's awesome. Finally some decent wwii picture goodness :) love the rim lighting on the tanks, very well done.
i want your dods poses.
So is there a background to this pose? What's going on?
It's in western Germany towards the end of the war, hence the RAF night raid going over on its way home; American armour is starting to push into the town, but the Germans are counter-attacking with their own. These two Panthers are passing by a Sherman they knocked out earlier, with infantry support moving up with them.
Looks very atmospheric, I like the rimlighting on the tank and the troops.
Looks good man.
ross this is really dark :( knowing how much awesome shit you can cram into a single picture, this makes me very sad
this is why all monitors ever should be factory calibrated to some universal setting

Like it.
nice sparks
Fire's nice.
Only problems are the inconsistency of the DoF and the rimlighting on the tank seems excessive. Obviously, you have to accentuate it somehow but I think a well-placed lamp or light would have done the trick
